I am not fishing either Dan but its the whole light weight thing I think.

Hey when you stuck to Champo on the thumper track you had your big tank on your heavy 4 stroke and you had what 15 litres on board

And the fastest bike around the grass track was the heaviest bike at Louee

But I understand how light weight can be a benefit hey Mal, when you have to push it home

Sorry mal it just came out, couldnt stop it

Each to his own I say

Now where are the pictures of this said smoker?

    TB

Maybe the fastest bike around the Grass track was also the heaviest, It was a consistency trial was it not? but if you had to do maybe a full days riding at same speeds in tight shitty hard going crap,I would take the two stroke every day.Love the four stroke on twin trails and more open stuff though. Two smokers are making a huge comeback and I think the Japs are making a big mistake as they will lose sales bigtime especialy with the new technology that is emerging,My opinion only

Thanks guys I was still interested it it was in fact possibly fuel. I’ll be strict about placing a rag under the airbox wash cover in future.

Can anyone confirm how you test you’re getting spark at the lead? I think I’ve asked before but is it just a case of sticking a screw driver in against the point and holding the steel shaft and feel for a jolt?

Yes Trent this is how all the Pro’s do it,some even use their tongue for a better feel of the voltage, let us know how you go.

Wow what can I say B) Thanks TB Dan Moto and everyone else that was involved with the organisation of this great event. It was awsome catching up with all the old Bulls from past events and meeting the new guys and gals.
I arrived friday night with a “Look what the cat dragged in” and within 20 seconds had a coldy handed to me  that set the scene for the nights frivolities :woohoo: I had stitches from laughing so hard and didnt get to bed until 1:30 in the morning. That was about the same point as Luke (Gasit) woke up and couldnt get any sleep because of the 090 Stihl chainsaw ringing its head off  Sorry mate, but a bottle of Bundy will do that to ya

Saturday turned out to be a glorious day. cooked up a mean breakfast of eggs bacon and snags on the barby. We did a couple of laps on the thumper track and then we headed into the enduro test. I swapped the Gasgas for a go of Mals Sherco 5.1 we had a good pace going in our small group.(Me,Mal,Boulder, boulders Son,and Yacka) (I think  )

we had a bit of a break then some of us headed up the big rocky Hill being led by Rocket with Boulder the super sweep at the rear. Came across a group of young fellas on their way back down the hill, they were trying to get up it on 85cc Mx bikes  that was never going to happen. we also had a retirement with one of our guys not quite up to the challenge and he headed back as well.
Rocket was setting a cracking pace up front and as I was still under the weather and also having the Flu was coughing up half a lung at all the rest breaks. Nearly thru it away in the rock garden a couple of times :S eventually we made it back to the carpark and had a break before heading over to the special test area for the Poker run.
The Poker run arnt these fun :woohoo: I started near the back of the pack and set off at a casual pace, well at least I did for the first 50 metres  But I could sense the build up of testosterone permeating from underneath the helmets of all and sundry, even Kylie was giving it a good go, I pulled in to get my second card when TB hit my kill switch,WTF  he then said to mick to get cracking and that I wouldnt catch him (what happened to this is not a race  ) So I was off chasing the BRP thru the creek bed and over the hills, seizing my opportunity when mick took a bad line, but he wasnt going to let me go easily chasing me down the back straight and into the whoops near the fence line,we then came upon Boony who was helping rat move his bike after having a big off, I thought about having some sympathy for him for about 1/2 a second, then roosted him with sand and rock Mick concurred and did the same :woohoo: (sorry Dave) but you would have done the same  Pulled in for the next card and I was right on the tailpipe of Mals big Sherco,I could tell from the riding style that he didnt want me to get past and we had a great run for almost a full lap hitting rocks and holes in the road at full noise 😆 By the time we got back around to the start I was pretty well spent but the adrenaline was still pumping thru my veins. I didnt end up getting a real good deal from the cards so headed back to the carpark in anticipation of the next programmed event.

The consistency time trial on the Grass track
We all lined up to get our photy taken by trail rider magazine then one by one had a crack at the grass track. I could tell once again that it was a “give it a crack as hard as you can trial” I hadnt ridden on this track before so wasnt quite sure what to expect,Puddles said it was slippery round the back with the white sand just after the two small jumps. He didnt tell me about the off camber right hander where I lost the front end in a slow motion lay down :( I picked myself back up a bit wobbly in the front end,so I thought I may as well have some fun on the berms :woohoo: Next time around I got a really good start and was going well, until the second lap where I came up on a dad and his son on his KX65, sh#t! Sh$t! Sh#t! I had no option but to slow right down and make my pass in a manner that was deemed acceptable to the dad and his boy, I got away after about 100 meters of torture and flew across the finish line nearly got taken out by a young fella who didnt realise that I was going straight ahead  ended up with a respectable time of 4.07 we all then went and parked up our bikes and headed back to the shearers quaters for a well earned feed and a drink or 7

    Presento Time

everyone was showered and fed and getting into the swing of things.we all were having a great time reliving the days activities. Everyone gathered around the dining area and TB gave us a speech and started handing out the prizes, I got a prize for the most inconsistent time thanks to Rock motorcycles, Crash got the most consistant times a 4.06/4.06 and won the Kingchrome toolpack! I was given the honour of drawing the winning raffle ticket for the Camelback that was donated by STM,the winner was Gasit my roomy! (I think he forgave me for my snoring after he won that! ) I went steady on the rumskis that night as I was not feeling 100 percent and managed to make it to bed at a respectable time. It was bloody freezing though.

    Sunday

sunday morning was a bloody cold very windy miserable looking day,and I was considering not riding, but Bull offered me his big Kato 525 for the morning,so I quickly changed my mind, I hooked up with Chris on his Kato450 and we did some laps around the Grass track, thumper track and finaly the back Fire trail, Chris hadnt been on a ride for about 15 months due to a new Bub and work commitments, anyway he set a cracking pace through all of the black arrowed sections only stopping a few times for a break, we made it back to the car and dave and Bull rock up, after taking copius amounts of Voltarin and pretty pink pain killers they were ready for a ride themselves. I said my goodbyes and had a good talk to Sutto and the few remaining OB’s having a go on the berg and Kato’s.

went back to the shearers quaters and had a really hot shower to defrost, a quick feed then headed off.

Thanks again to everyone who showed up and made the weekend what it was. Thanks also to the Sponsors for the great prizes and the people who organised the event. A lot of new friendships were made this weekend and a lot of older ones rekindled. Boony and Menace you need to see a special doctor (to much man love for me  ) TB and Dan the umbilical twins
Thanks again to everyone awesome stuff B)

I don’t have one but have looked and it seems that the general consensus is the 60cx or 60csx are most popular with the latter having the added altimeter and compass for a few bob more.

Ram mounts are supposed to also be the only way to go if you want to mount it on the bike.

Scotty have a look at a Garmin etrex cx vista, color screen mapping and mini SD card ;) can get em now for about $200 new as they are superseded models. Garmin have great backup and support

Yeah Smurf get well quick buddy, injuries suck bat!! :(

On another note when I arrived home I got news from my mother, one of my best mates from school came off his bike and died from his injuries. :( Apparently he wasnt wearing a helmet I dont know the full story yet but it just reinforces the danger of our sport and the importance of safety gear especially helmets.

    RIP Darryl ol mate
