I’m in the market for a secondhand bike. My first bike back in the dirt after 20 years was a sweet WR426, but that was stolen about 9 months ago. Been looking at 300cc 2Ts mainly due to the cost of rego for a bigger bike, but lately I’ve seen a few Husky 510s around for only a few dollars more. I’m limited to $5K.

While I was looking for a lighter bike, I reckon an electric leg would go a long ways to making up for the extra weight, and I never really had an issue kickstarting the WR in awkward situations.

So what’s the good goss on these bikes? I hear they have fragile big ends?

Any idea on other issues? What about handling, performance, weight, range, and can you readily find stuff to fit such as pivot pegz and other blingage?

Ergos? Good for a tall rider?

Beatle In my opinion I wouldnt touch the husky unless it had FI. They are dropping in value pretty quick at the moment. Depending on the type of riding you expect to mainly be doing should determine what bike you get. For 5k you would get a nice wr450 (04,05) and there is plenty of bling to be had for these bikes:laugh:
I have gone back to the two strokes 07 Gasser 300 and love it,suits the riding I like to do and I am not to knackered after a days ride. In the two strokes for the money you are looking at i reckon a 05 -06 husky or Ktm 250/ 300 would be a goer. I have heard that Husky 4t’s can cost a packet to rebuild (brothers TC610 was nearly 3 grand:( ) P-Dub has a pristine XR400 for sale that is worth looking at as well. best of luck mate

Choppers was a bit of a different case, it was ex police bike that it turns out was lacking some filter maintenance when we found out whom had been looking after it.

It required two inlet valves, not normal for a DRZ thats for sure and cheaper than a gasser gearbox :P

    TB

No denying it DRZ’s are as reliable a bike you could get,Ive got one as well remember, but every time you say something about being good so far it inevitability turns to sh#t:laugh:

Gasser gearbox was only $800 including labour, not bad I thought and I could have done it cheaper if I didnt get the full gasket kit:dry:

What else turned shit? Besides your retreads I used
