I use it in my ute because of the LPG and because I had it I also put it in the WR. The 5 years of running it in the WR with no shim adjustment needed was just an observation. prior to the WR I always put a capful of 2 stroke in the oil, didnt hurt them

I have a 01 Ford Courier 2.6 petrol duel cab. I had injection LPG fitted when I got it 50,000 km it now has 110000kms and still going well. The power of this is a bit down especially when fully loaded with bikes and gear, but a simple push of the button instantly switches it over to petrol when needed. I can and have carried three bikes before, 2 facing forward 1 facing rear with the footpegs held up with cable ties. Tailgate has to be down, but that has not been a problem, I usually dont worry about securing the rear wheels, but make a point of going steady over speed humps and rough surfaces.but it is easy enough to put a strap around the rear wheel and around the hinge of the tailgate. The downside to carrying three bikes is the steering is a bit light. It costs me approx $35 to travel 450 kms Hornsby to kempsey which is pretty good I think. The ride is a bit truck like especially when there is no load in the back. I have Toyota 2.4 Hilux’s at work and they have great engines with heaps of grunt. They get renewed at 20,000 km’s so would be a good buy from Pickles or similar auctions.I would recommend the duel cab option in 2 x 4 and the kids dont mind travelling in the back as the leg room although not great is acceptable.

Quote:just a thought when they got rid of leaded fuel you could buy an aditive for unleaded so you could use it in older moters desighned for leaded fuel which had softer valves .be the same stuff would not itI use valve saver in my lpg powered courier and have done so since I have had the gas fitted. The mechanic (whom I trust)recommended it as he has seen numerous engines with valve recession. Super Petrol which had lead in it acted as a cushioning agent which stopped the valve faces slamming into the seat apparently this does the same thing as the lead. For the cost of 5 litres (about $80)which has lasted me four years I am happy to run it. The WR450 that I had also use to have it (from new)and for a bike that was 5 years old didnt need the shims adjusting once. I reckon it works but im no Julius Sumner miller either.
