jimmy wrote:The piston has grabbed in the barrel of my old CR. It has already been bored out and an oversized piston fitted. It’s meant to have a Nicasil coated bore. Is it possible to either re-bore it further, or get a new sleeve or is a new barrel the way to go. Service Honda has them for $380ish on the net. Everywhere else lists them as obsolete.
I am a 4 stroke bloke so not real clued up on old 2 strokes.Hey Jimmy $380 is cheap get 2 ! A nicasil bore will out perform a sleeve everyday of the week. Less heat sink into the barrel = better more consistent power over a longer period. And you dont have to rebore them

The idea is awsome ………. Buuuuuttttttt because it is super Hydrophobic it is potentially very very dangerous!! If this stuff gets into your Blood stream by ingestion or even absorbed through your skin the stuff can be fatal. Im no chemist or scientist but just getting it out there.
Ollie
Good idea Storky
Ahh yes Bahco that was the other brand I was trying to think of
cant go wrong with that one Eags
Ollie
+1 for the Sandvik if you want it to last and not give you any grief. I think Aldi has some of their brand on sale at the moment for about $5
I carried a crosscut saw on the back of my old RMX when I was maintaining some trails on the southside of the Watto’s it was good for limbs and logs (good work out too  )
Ollie
Welcome to the site mate and thanks for posting up
For Video editing I find movie maker does a pretty good job
I am sure there is other easy ones to use as well.

Thanks Adam for another great day in Ourimbah. Had a good time sweeping and saw plenty of Offs  ( both of Gordo’s were crackers  ) Cheers Davis for the assistance given when I lost the rear calliper bolt  I reckon we did the right thing by completely disabling it. Was a bit sketchy coming down that last red clay Hill and a 4×4 decided to pull out in front of me  Always good to be on a ride with Murph the big fella is inspiring to watch the way he finesses his way up the rocks. Teza you showed a marked improvement in your ability this ride mate, well done
Thanks Squiggle for the assist getting the GG on the back of the Triton, I was knackered and couldnt do it myself at that stage, I would of had a bit more energy but April went back early and she was carrying all the food
Great day out definatley do that again if I can.

who would say sorry mate you cant come on this ride ?
I would everyday of the week, to protect me, the site, my house, my mates, their houses, their families1. How would you know? 2. What happened to “im going on a ride,if you wish to come you may, ” didnt think anyone or any entity would be accountable for a bunch of mates going for a ride ? Its not as tho its a club or a race “happy to be corrected if Im wrong”
If they decide to ride their unrego bike and have an accident or the boys in blue rock up well thats the risk they should be prepared to be accountable for.
Sadly it isnt that easy, then they sue someone else because they have no choice, dont be so gullible
Razz has a very good point, if we had Rec rego there wouldnt be an issue, 99% of all trail bikes would be legal.
Bullshit, 99% says who? Where did that figure come from? Why pay the rec rego Ollie had an idea leave your plate on and pay nothing who will check, you said it 99% is hypothetical should have said a ” most trailbike would be legal ” always going to be the dick head factor out there
As Aido mentioned $72 for rego and $16 for a plate. (NSW must have higher quality plates as they charge $40)
You fail to understand we have a green slip system, even if rec rego happened here and it wont, the rego may drop from 105 to 15 dollars (just figures plucked from the air) but because of NSW insurance system being different to VIC you will still need a green slip and that the expensive bit!!!! I understand the system
just saying the whole lot should be overhauled
The whole insurance biz in NSW is a sham and I wouldnt be surprised if their was kick backs going on left right and centre.
Yes it is
My mate Rick who now lives at Port Macquarie was hit by an unregistered yobbo on an old PE175 at wheel barrow ridge rd Colo Heights he got a broken knee out of it and no compensation, medical bills,Ambo costs etc so I know the risks and the potential cost involved, that is why I am registered.
Lets hope people dont read the ideas here and do it then eh They already are !!
Ollie
Thanks for the chat Ollie, I have had enough. I know your one of the good guys and I will buy you a few rums when we catch up mate
TB
your on
Im going to bed gotta ride tomorrow
Ollie
Ok I knew this would occur

Haven’t looked around yet for something cheaper but still not sure why there is such a big difference to the triton. Assume maybe weight.Dickie Id say postcode has a bit to do with it and also being a Ute they have a separate classification, but dont ask me why they are more exspensive to insure

I’m considering not bothering next year to be honest .. no cops anywhere to be seen where I ride (when I ride), no-one I ride with has rego … why bother??
If we had Rec in NSW I would not be asking the same questions … or considering the same “devil may care” situationMy Two Cents
RazzBecause you wont be on any OBT rides mate. While its not ideal and maybe not fair its what we have and its what we promote here at OBT.
Dream about rec rego it will never happen here in NSW while we have a green slip system, not Vics system. If we ever do something around rec rego IT WILL REQUIRE A GREEN SLIP and thats where we get ripped not the actual regoEverytime Ollie regos something this old chestnut pops up
TB
I know that OBT promotes legal riding etc etc , but honestly how are you going to police that ? no stickers in NSW now, dont hand your plate in and ride on, hopefully you wont be involved in an accident involving another vehicle etc or you happen to run across the police thats the risk you have to decide is it worth it ? Im only regoed because where I ride there is a very good chance of both. But where Razz rides up on the Mid North Coast pffftt. Nothing and I am sure that he is not alone.
My 2 cents

Nato wrote:With rec rego if you want to take your bike from vic to nsw does this mean you get fined if caught riding it there?Yep
Rec Rego is only good in Vic

budge wrote:I’m just doing rego for my sons KTM. The CTP prices I got last night from i think it was RTA comparison site was less than 10 bucks between the lot of them. GIO was at $386, which was in the middle. The site included all the companies you mentioned Ollie. Might have to have a closer look. Rego 117.00, CTP, 386.65, pink slip 28. My son isn’t even living in the southern hemisphere – he’s been OS for 6 mths :SStinks doesnt it budge
My Gasgas 300 I registered a couple of weeks ago was around the $400 dollar mark, which is a lot of coin for something that might do 1500 km’s a year. Someone on a 650 commuting from say Gosford to Sydney and doing probably 30000 kms a year pays the same premium. The sooner we bring in Rec rego the the better (but thats a whole other debate)
Ollie
seems like im shelling out heaps of Coin to CTP and RMS lately but check this comparison. The difference between NRMA and QBE is a Whopping $370  WTF!!
Needless to say I went with QBE to register the TritonOllie
