The WR450 was running like crap wouldnt come on to the main, might be a blockage in the Carby,It sounded like a rev limiter was holding it back, weird.

This sounds like a classic case of too rich on the mainjet. Remember that the weather is now hotter and drier than you have been riding in. You will need to lean off the mainjet and possibly adjust the pilot circuit to compensate for the changed environmental conditions. Just try going down one size on the MJ at a time and take it for a run.

Nah! sorry nigel, the temp on Sunday was very mild about 23 degrees,it was a blockage of some description or at the other extreme an electrical issue, but that reminds me I will have to throw the red JD needle and 168 main in my WR450 on the weekend.

    cheers Ollie

also could have been the way Gili oiled the airfilter and overdone it,maybe a combination of all of the above:unsure:

I would highly recommend Case savers, bar risers, bash plate, rad guards, S/S brake lines and MCCT.

S/S brake lines can be had from Ebay for about $30 ea pyramid parts username krisodemus (i think) you just need to measure the length and order the right one.

Got anymore photos? How did sundays ride go? How did the tracks pan out and where did you go? How did the new guy go?

    TB

The ride on Sunday was uhh eerr eventfull  I found a couple of good tracks off creek rd and new mill rd unfortunatley the loggers have been in there and wiped out most of the access tracks to them. There was a couple of big uphills that we didnt attempt as we had Kempy with us (Newby) This was his Virgin ride on dirt:laugh: The poor guy had 5 crashes going down this one downhill, that wasnt that steep or tricky and was really pissed off at me after the fourth. I couldnt help myself and was laughing at him! I went past him and sat at the bottom of the hill with Gili and gave him directions.
Both Gili and I were impressed on his last effort RE: massive crash:ohmy: where kempy got our interperation of go left hand singles confused with “give it some” and launched himself off a 3 metre embankment with a whip thrown in for good measure:ohmy:  he landed flat on his side :side: he will be feeling the pain today,no body armour. We picked up the KLX and straightened her out a bit,but noticed a big hole in the water pump supply Hose probably from one of his previous crashes,as there was no coolant around the last crash site. Luckily I had a piece of plastic 12mm hose in my bumbag and with a generous proportin of tape and cable ties we got it fixed. We then took the main rd back,we gave kempy directionsto the cars.Gili and I got into the tight single tracks around the Pines,Gili got to ride my bike and hopefully will provide some of his views on the Gasser. The WR450 was running like crap wouldnt come on to the main, might be a blockage in the Carby,It sounded like a rev limiter was holding it back, weird. I have a couple of photies that I will upload later on

Looks like a plan,I just have to sweet talk the boss for both myself and Gili:laugh:

I found a couple of good tracks not far from the camping area,we couldnt go up the hills because we had the newby with us,hell we couldnt go down the hills because we had the newby with us:ohmy: :silly:

I was just thinking engine side cases on the DRZ are prone to damage from rocks and the gear lever, a 2mm aluminium disc sikaflexed to it increases the strength considerably and gives peace of mind.
Also those Stainless steel oil filters that some bloke is pedalling for $50 would have to be near the top of the list;)

Thanks luke, I havnt pulled the carb apart to check it out yet,and I am considering the .5 base gasket,I hear the .3 makes the bike cranky and you must run 98 premium fuel or octane booster. Im not as fit as I should be and am quite happy with the way the power comes on now but a little more snap coming onto the main would increase the grin factor. let me know when you get a nice combination going

I would consider a front disc plastic cover like the RMX has keeps out a lot of mud and crap.
also the nice shiny lower fork legs cop a hiding and need protection I made some carbonfibre/kevlar ones for the RMX and they do a great job.
hope all goes well with the DR

the rubbing is possibly caused from a bent bracket or play in bolt.for the spring mount try getting the side out of a chain link enlarge one hole to the same size as bracket hole then bolt on with bracket bolt extending outwards. hook spring in other hole.

Thanks Gasit, the springs came off about 5 times today and was really pissing me off,in the end we used a innertube rubber strap to keep it up out of the way.

Other than that and a need to jet the the thing properly I was really impressed, these things carve up the tight stuff!!

    any jetting recomendations?
