What really surprised me,was the amount of obviously unregistered bikes out there,ie motocrossers,no lights or anything.A friend of mine from years ago who had just picked up sponsorship from Husky Imports had an incident on the trail with an idiot on something big TT yamy I think,(but it was regoed)anyway the TT rider got two broken legs snapped pelvis and other really bad shit,Lucas is still paying for it that was over 10 years ago!Luckily the rangers (or cops) were not out that day,
ollieWorks like magic!! remember to keep it moving though

WATAGANS RIDE REPORT ACCORDING TO OLLIE
I had just finished working on the engine of the RMX as she needed to be re-ringed, it hadn’t been ridden for nearly 10 months, after getting it all back together, I decided to take her for a run around the block, it went well except for the noticeably low tyre pressures. So when I got back to the shed I grabbed the foot pump and went searching for the valve, Doh !it had pulled itself into the rim and the front would have to come off to fix it So off she came bit of a struggle ,but I got there eventually.put the tyre back onto the rim and pumped it up to about 50psi so the bead would pop, all good! I then tightened up the rim lock and snap the f #@ker sheared off!! DOH! DOH!!. So off it came again. Luckily I had a spare rim lock in the parts bin. Refitted it and the tyre and decided to load the bike onto the ute for a quick getaway in the morning,by the time that was all done and I had finished getting my shit in one sock it was 1215 in the morning,I had the alarm set for 5.30!!
After a quick bowl of porridge and a coffee I was off. It was bloody foggy on the F3 couldn’t see 50 feet in front of me but I thought I was running a bit behind so I had the courier up to 120, Then a black Falcon with a trailer carrying two honda’s and a KTM doing close to 160 flew past me !! 10 minutes later I see the same black Falcon pulled off the side of the road and Portly fella looking rather bemused. I pulled into prickly ridge rd and only one other car was there, it was Tiny and he had been there since 6.30!! Keen as!!
The falcon rocked up next with TB, crash and Drd, strange noises were eminating from the falcon as if it had just done Bathurst! Northy and Cam arrived shortly after. (sorry If I have forgotten anyone)
We all get underway at about 8ish,I had to turn back, forgot my goggles and gloves (must be my age LOL)
So after that little Drama we get going the corner man system is in place and we are off at a nice pace. The Watagans gets used a fair bit and some of the ruts are huge, Tiny has a moment on the big 610 and he is down, looked pretty good from behind ,but to his credit he brushed himself down and continued on, We follow TB up this goat track and all was going great until he stops and starts waving his arms, “the track stops cant go any further” bugger the Suzuke was going great guns, We get back on the trail and head towards the pines, The pace was picking up real good through the single track, lots of trees to avoid and exposed roots, the track was a little Sandy and due to the amount of riders was very wooped out, The shoulders and previous injuries were starting to ache but I shouldn’t have complained, as Tiny had come down again in a rut somewhere and had bashed his knee, claret was coming out of his riding pants,(better invest in some knee gaurds Tiny ,cheap insurance)
We then head towards some well used trails that were used by the Watagan trail ride series,we come across a couple of ruts that were virtually impassable so some of us go around the road, we then head into the hills and ride on some of the best trails I have ever rode on absolutely awesome, it was here whilst cruising behind Tiny, he some how managed to do a front end wheely and speared into the bush, he held onto the bucking 610 but the damage was done, after I stopped laughing I realized that the big fella had pulled a Hammy and was in some real pain,we get going after about 10 minutes and head into some real gnarly creeks and rainforest. We met up with Northy who was coming back down a steep greasy root and rock strewn hill this was his third attempt (I think he said) I believed him as steam was coming from out of his helmet, I saw TB laying down3/4 of the way up obviously he had made it and was now recovering from the heart pounding that had taken place in his chest cavity. I lined the RMX up snicked her into second and rode the clutch like a bastard ,not once did she look like she wasn’t going to get the job done, I bopped past TB who was showing great signs of encouragement and parked her at the top with a couple of the other bikes. We still had to get Northy Crash and Tiny to the top. Tiny decided it was best if some one else rode his bike up as his leg was not up to it,(Tiny check your tyre pressures we reckon you have got at least 35 psi in em!!) Anyway we get em all up with a bit of help from everyone. As we take off another group is heading down must have been about 10 of em.
We then did a quick ride to the Northern walk for a bit of sight seeing ( or it could have been we took a wrong turn eh TB)
WE then debated if we should go down this steep rocky sandstone drop off because if it was the wrong way we would be in the shit trying to get back up, fortunately DRD’s gps told the truth and after a bit of careful manhandling of the steeds down the dropoff we were back on track to get to Laguna pub for a feed and refuel. Insert (we went through this section of yellow gloopy clay that had been trashed by four wheel drives, you basicly had to put your feet out like big sleds and work your way through the ruts,a couple of the boys had a bit of Drama LOL) We got to Laguna having just travelled 96km.The feed and beer went down a treat. We all had a good feed and got ready to leave,Tiny got instructions for a road trip and off he left, TB and the others headed off while Crash and DRD and myself were a bit slower and headed off after them, unfortunatley we got stuck behind a hay truck and by the time I got around the others were gone, crash went past me on the tar at about 140km/h in hot pursuit but found he was chasing some roadbikes and not TB and the others he ended up at the letter A and Kulnura .before turning back. I couldn’t see the cornerman anywhere so just kept going straight on I ended up turning around near Wisemans ferry turnoff about 20km of tar and headed back when I came across Drd we then did a u turn and headed up the road again! I thought he knew were we were going (apparently not!) we did a u turn at the same place as before and headed back towards Laguna, we found a couple of gates that we thought were the tracks that we should be on and had a great scenic tour of some farms people burning off, after realizing that these were not the turn offs we decided to head back to laguna and get more fuel and hopefully some two stroke oil for the RMX and KTM300.It was then that we came across Crash who was heading back up the road. We all refueled and got on the Phone to TB,reception was dodgy but we managed to get a cryptic message away we headed back to the letter A thinking Tiny was still there waiting for us, He was long gone, we took a photo of the tourist billboard that had a basic map on it and headed off down Walkers ridge forest road .About 20 kms we came across TB who was sitting there by himself and had been for 2 hours, the other boys had racked off as they had to get home?,we had a bit of a chat and discussed the preceding events, we wanted to get going as it was getting dark and we had about another 30kms to go, We went Via the pines and a bit more roadwork to Cooronbong ,then around to The cars at Prickly. Tiny was there as we rocked up with his bike loaded and ready to go, did a lot of Kms on the Tar and his body was feeling it, by the time our bikes were loaded it was pitch black.LESSONS LEARNT
1. The corner man system failed because someone assumed the person behind them knew the way.
2. The Sweep should know the route as well.
3. IF you get lost you should always go back and wait at the last known spot, in this case Laguna Pub.(not that bad an idea when you think about it!)
4. Always carry some extra 2 stroke oil on longer rides for the 2 stroke guys,
5. Everybody should have a copy of everyone elses phone number
6. Ensure your lights are working especially on longer rides
7. Don’t make plans in cement for events planned after a ride you can disappoint to many people, in my case a tenant who needed her hotbox looked at (OVEN!)
8. Probably a good idea for people to carry some Topograph paper maps of the area you will riding in.
9. always carry some good Pain killers (panadeine forte or Nurofen)
10. Get a good nights sleep the night before! This was a great ride, with people getting out there and doing what they like doing most, Riding, the first half was brilliant ,the last half educational, but turned out OK in the end.
Thanks TB for the effort that you put in,Thanks Tiny for the entertainment LOL,Thanks Crash and Drd for being there, and thanks Northy and Cam for the camaraderie in the bush.Lets do it again!!
This ride report is my take on events, other people may have different opinions on events and are whole heartedly welcome to enlighten.
Cheers Ollie
PS I only got about 40 minutes of footage, but will try and youtube the best bits Ollie

cheers Ollie
Mick one thing you will find if you use a diesel engine oil, is that because of the high detergent additive it will really clean out all of the internals of the engine,I also know that it is ok for your gearbox as well
ollie
