Nice one Rookie, I have just got a pair as well from an Australian seller (obviously chinese tho) $79 delivered for the XR650R. One thing I noticed tho is the radiator cap is only rated to 1.1 bar. The cap I have on the XR is a 1.6 and the Silicone hoses handle it easy.

Ive got 5 chain o ring compressors that I made up years ago that could go into a mystery raffle or door prize type thing.
Also a new CRF Stainless steel re-usable oil filter that I will throw into the auction.

Yes I know I used plenty of the loctite but most of that was squeezed out when the bolts where done up,so it does in fact have only a very thin layer of the blue stuff. I will no doubt be keeping an extra vigilant eye on it for a while.
The Devcon should handle the torque as Long as the sprocket doesnt move, the rear of the flanges were not flogged out they where still round,so as long as the nuts stay tight all should be good. Hopefully

So Ive been a bit busy at work and havnt had much of a chance to do anything on the XR. I decided that the flogged out flanges on the hub could be repaired with Devcon so I got stuck into it.
I used a wire Buff on a electric drill to fully buff the Hub flanges.
Then give it a real good degrease with some Brake cleaner
Next up I mixed up some Aluminium Devcon and applied with a spatula.
I found some bolts of the right diameter and wrapped some electrical tape around the threads to removal easier.I applied some CT18 to the Back of a new sprocket to act as a release agent. and bolted it up nice and firm this will force the devcon into all the right places.
This is with the sprocket removed prior to filing smooth
This is with the devcon filed smooth pretty happy with the result
Fitted up the new Sunstar 44 tooth sprocket. previous was a 45 and I could only get 156KM/h out of the BRP hoping to crack 160 with this one !
didnt hold back with the Loctite 243
Under the Bolt heads as well
Back of the Hub Bolts tightened up to FT 😆
Tada Finished product
I will be keeping a close check on the tension over the next few weeks and If it fails which I dont think it will I will weld up the holes using the TIG and redrill. But for now am really happy with the result.

Teknik wrote:The Tenere suspension upgrades have been running hot in the last few months culminating with 2 bikes for Yamaha Australia. They performed better than expected and the humble little Sachs shock performed better than anyone expected.
So, in light of this and buying the Tenere suspension parts in bigger numbers it’s time to let Old Bulls in on a deal.
Wheel your bike into Teknik for the full treatment, fork and shock springs, shock valving and fork V4s valves (our version of an Emulator) for $800. That’s $400 off our RRP!
How good is it? Ask TB, he’s been the test pilot for this package from the start.
Give me a call to book in, 24-48 hour turnaround with booking
NickHey Nick great deal mate !! I have a guy at work that was complaining about his suspension on his Tenere and I told him that you were the ones to deal with, this deal will only make him get his shit together quicker, just got to get him to sign up now
Ollie
