    Well I’ve done the research.
    I’m almost decided on the Gas Gas EC300 Electric Start.
    Just have to sell a couple of the oldies and save a few sheckles.
    Thanks for the opinions lads.
    Cheers
    Gazza.

    Excellant choice Gaz ;) light weight reliable great spares support at a reasonable price and with a starter motor that doesnt have any real issues unlike the KTM. Power is easily tuneable to your personal preferances. The 2012’s seat is about 25mm higher than previous models although still relatively low compared to others.

    The 2011’s are going for a real good price second hand low km’s. The newer 12’s have a Marzocchi CC fork and Ohlins rear. The 11’s have Sach’s fork/Shock. I believe the 13’s Standard run of the mill 300EC have a 45 Marzocchi shiver and Sach’s shock which I think is a backward step. The 300R has trick suspension but no leccy leg.

    I need a front and rear mudguard and they seem to be rare as, but we will get there ;)

    Reason why they are rare Mike is because they where mud catchers and jammed up your front wheel. Preston Petty plastic mudgaurds where the trick bit of kit for these old rattlers ;)

    Thanks Zorroz i did have that one on my watchlist ;)

    My one is the same as the second picture that Moto put up.

    TB, tried that with Nickj and it seems it was a nightmare for him :huh: so I will try again :unsure:

    Thanks anyway

    I’ve been restoring a 72 DT2 for the past 5 years. Plenty of parts available ebay usa. The last part I was chasing for a long time was some decent forks. A guy from ozvmx came to the rescue and sold me a pair so I’m on the home straight. Just need to find some time!!

    Hey Zorozz my dad had the 72 250 DT2 was a good old reliable bike, the points didnt like water though and you had to give it a real mans boot to get her fired up. As a 12 year old I often took her out for a blast with out the old man knowing that was until the Biatch kicked me back and nearly broke my foot :S

    Yeah I can live with that mate, will give you a run on the 530 so you can experience a late model four stroke up at zig zag one day. Hey fix yor headlight I am running a night ride up there soon 4 hrs of singles one evening :woohoo:

    Gas gas are a good thing when you put enough Honda parts on them eh Ollie forks, brakes, clutch parts :laugh: :laugh: Oh yeah it’s not a laughing matter it’s the truth :P

    TB

    No arguments from me, Gasgas is probably the closest Euro to manufacture a bike similar to a rice burner as you could get.
    Perimeter Frame = 94 KX 125
    Engine = loosely based on a YZ
    brakes = Nissan
    wheels = DID dirtstars
    ignition electrics = Kokusan

    even the front suspension (marzocchi 45 shivers) are identical to 92 model Showa’s which were standard on my 92 Husky 360

    and Honda are the ones that went bleating to the AMA and threatened to pull the pin if they didnt get their way ;)

    If you were into trials bikes you would have heard of Beta PTW. The more 2 banger the better now if only the Japs would pull their heads out of the sand.

    +1 Scotty ;)

    BTW I rode a 99 RMX for about 50 kays up in the Watagans last weekend B) still love the old Suzuki 2 strokes. How good are the seats on em like an arm chair compared to the Brick on the Gasser :laugh:

    They Look like a good thing B) Not a fan of the Sachs suspension tho would have been better with Marzocchi/KYB/Ohlins/Showa CC forks and Ohlins rear Boinger
