The first day of the 2012 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) has been run and won in the New South Wales town of Dungog, with Toby Price (Motorex KTM Off-Road) coming out atop the ladder.

Under picture perfect blue skies and overdue summer-style weather, the 2010 Champion made an early mark on the 2012 Series by clinching both Outright and E3 honours in an epic six Test day of Enduro competition

In the Outright stakes, Price trailed behind reigning Champion and Motorex KTM Off-Road teammate Chris Hollis for the first two Tests, before kicking up a gear to claim multiple tests and clean up ahead of Stefan Merriman and Daniel Milner (both of Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road). Despite a solid start to the morning, Hollis had a disappointing finish to the opening round, with a derailed chain pushing him down the ladder in the last Moto.

The first E1 line honours of the Series were taken by Milner, who finished ahead of Josh Green (active8 Yamaha Yamalube) and Ben Burrell (Motorex KTM Off-Road).

Tasmanian live-wire Matt Phillips (Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road) claimed the opening round honours in the E2 Class, coming home ahead of Glenn Kearney (Husqvarna Racing) and Mitcham Harper (Yamaha), while the E3 class belonged to Price, who was followed home on the timesheet by Stefan Merriman (Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road ) and Scott Keegan (Motorex Force Husaberg).

Reigning Masters Champion and Dungog local Trent Lean (Suzuki MX1 Australia) snagged the Masters Class, nudging out Mark Cockerill (Husaberg) and Ian Jenner (Husaberg) , while Damian smith (Husqvarna) claimed the Vets class ahead of Rob Francis and Anthony Smidt (KTM).

2011 Champion Jemma Wilson (Yamaha) set the pace in the Women’s Class, coming home ahead of Jessica Gardiner (Yamaha) and Tanya Hearn (KTM), setting up 2012 as another year of close competition between the leading trio.

The Juniors put in a brilliant opening round performance across two Tests and an afternoon Moto. The J2 Class belonged to Wil Ruprecht (Suzuki MX1 Australia) who finished the day ahead of Dylan Heaton (KTM) and Lyndon Snodgrass (Kawasaki) while J3 was taken out by Nic Tomlison (KTM), shadowed in by Tom Mason (KTM) and Jacob Peacock (Suzuki). Peter-Daniel Allan took the J4 honours, coming home ahead of Matt Prott (Suzuki) and Isaac Richardson (Suzuki).

The action will continue at the Dungog Showground tomorrow, where another six Tests will round out the epic opening weekend of the 2012 Series.

i recieved a letter today reguarding the little fuel filter just b4 the injector. ktm are askn for the new bikes to be taken back to the dealer to have the fuel screen kit replaced from a 10micron to a 20 micron and you get 2 extra filter screens free

hey Wolfie one guy on 350 DNF’d on day 2 at the fuel checkpoint in Dungog his filter had blocked up, he wasnt happy about it either :( you will always get teething problems in a new series of bike, (or anything for that matter)

what an awsome event :woohoo: I think the dungog forest 300 is probably the Premier 2 day Enduro being run in Australia at this point in time. Beags was right at 830 PM I was stuffed  went and had a hot shower and jumped into my swag just as the dust retention started coming down  One of the hardest 130 Km rides Ive done for a while. I nearly had a mild heart attack going down one greasy red clay no traction off camber hill. And when you ride a trail with a name of “this trail sucks” well says it all really. This was an old style enduro with quite a few DNF’s I will report more on this a bit later.

    Hi eag’s

here is a fix for you, register on a site called shipto.com, this will give you a US address they will take delivery for and then for a small fee, resend it to you.
There is another site that does the same thing but I have the info at work, not here

    cheers Hatto

ahhhh No , sorry Hatto , they specifically state they will not ship to a forwarding address and will cancel the order.these items to be used in the US must be a sort of distributor protection scheme like rekluse have on their products.

    see below:

Shipping to a US Mailing Address
During checkout, enter the phone number of the person you’re shipping to.
International orders are intended for use in the US, and it is assumed that products will be used in the US.
Best Buy does not ship to known freight forwarders, and orders to such will be canceled.
Tax manifestos and sales tax refunds are not available for these orders.

A mate of mine recently admitted to being addicted to brake fluid.
When I quizzed him on it he reckoned he could stop at any time.

They were being made for Honda CRF 250/450 ktm 250/300/450 and Gasgas as well. Now they have their own frame and use a Gasgas 300 engine on the smoker and a 450 Honda bottom end but not unicam topend (maybe the chinga version) suprisingly the smoker is USD 8995 and the 4T is USD 6995 :woohoo: unfortunatley no rego for Aust :woohoo:

I think they would be awsome in the steep rocky shaly and gnarly tracks.

wonder how much to ship to oz? They are selling like hotcakes in NZ

yes they got him Fes, and apparently a fair whack of Heroin as well. It really annoys me when Scum of the Earth do all this crap and feel hard done by. They are nothing but parasites, I take my hat off to the Police and all the other services (ambo, fire ses etc)

    RIP mate
