The road is in such a bad state, that the local gun riders around here use it as a training ground for Finke. It is hard to explain what it is like to someone that hasn’t ridden it. It certainly is a fun bit of track on the XR650!

I rode it Solo on the XR 2 weekends before last. I did a big loop from My Olds place on Cresent Head rd through the Bush (Micks Birthday Ride Route) to Krams house and Stex (Kram wasnt Home :( ) into Cresent to top up with fuel down to the Camp grounds which were packed B) couldnt find the Happy Hippy then down Plomer :woohoo: then back up Maria River Rd at top speed ( lost my number plate somewhere along there :( ) then back into the Bush back to the Olds. B) I went out the next day as well and looked for my plate  which I didnt find :( ( $39 and a visit to the police station and RTA ) for a new one.
Had fun pity I didnt see Kram.

wow that OBT bear trap has come up awsome  I am amazed B) I was going to throw it out to the metal yard initially but thought someone may want it and a good opportunity to raise some funds for the site or charity. Just goes to show the generosity of our members who realise they are getting a Primo weekend for next to nicks compared to an professional mob. Great idea to use it as an Esky carrier

PS Good idea to paint it Gold ;) I dont know how many people tripped over it when it was black  (including me and my ol dad !)

I rode a borrowed crf at Dungog one weekend, really nice to ride (although some strange noises come from that Unicam engine 😆 )

Booney will be on his arse within 5 km’s of the carpark especially if Snow takes him past that Goat farm

I agee with scotty the trick to keeping ya power valve working properly is to kleen it and maintain I had the same problem with my wr200,a mate had the rmx250 and the power valve will cost an arm and a leg :( bigger al

yep sorry mate its all bad news. over $250 for a new genuine power valve which you have to get from an Aussie dealer as the 98 – 2001 RMX’s are Aussie only spec dont waste your time or money trying to get US RMX or RM power valve parts as they dont fit! ;)

I got a DRZ one for mine and my Bro’s they do fit but you need to grind a fair chunk of metal off it for it to clear the cases etc. I havnt done mine as yet but my Brother has. I bought the DRZ Kickers from the states (and a YZ250 one for the Gasgas B) ) It was about $120 ea.

Teza you only need to remove the 12 mm bolt Its just probably a bit tight on the splines give it a bit of heat with a hot air gun and give her some gentle taps around the starter lever. You might be able to get a 3 or 4 jaw puller onto it as well ;)

Nice Bike Metzy very Nice B) I have the RMX (as well as several others  ) and feel that for a trail bike once a few mods have been done it is a perfect trail bike, I reckon the WR is much more hard core and and at its best when wound on :woohoo: special test etc etc awsome bike for their intended use. The RMX has 11.5 litre tank as standard and good for well over 110 km’s B) in a straight line the WR would eat an RMX ! probably a different story in the singles and hills.

I’ve owned my 98 WR250zk since 2000 and cannot see myself selling it. It would easily have over 20,000km on it. A mate had the same era RMX and the WR had the edge over it. The only thing is it is very thirsty I get about 50km from the stock tank and pushing 80km out of the long range tank.

with the resurgance of the Classic scene, its about right. i’ve been watching a couple of old trials bikes for a mate and anything from $1,000 to $2,500 is the norm obviously condition plays a big part too!
Parts can be readily sourced from O/S as well as in OZ.

Yep I thought the TY went cheap

I had this model as a Kid (except it was an 80  )
