I initially was looking at the Nissan D40 as I do like the look of them, but after hearing some of the reports from Close tradie friends about them blowing up and clutch issues and pathetic customer service I struck it off the list. The Hilux probably would have been ok but I think they have been running on their name for the last few yeaers and the others have caught up, ie Triton 4wd of the year couple of years running now
The VW Amarok was the one I would of liked but I dont have $55k for a ute
also the new Ranger and BT50 being aussie designed and with the new 3.2 litre 5 cylinder look awsome. but give it a few years I might get one second hand.I have had a few Mitsubishi’s now (magna’s) and they have always been great. The old guy across the road has had his pajero for about 20 years and it still is as good as new. So a lot of thought and research has gone into the decision. Gotta love that car
Ollie
PS Eagle the MN Triton has an extended Tub and is very roomy, not as big as an Amarok but not far off it
you could Mustang it  just watch out for the spiders legs
Seriously Tez Give it the old Shampoo trick you will be amazed at the amount of Shit that comes out. like Mal said stuff it full of paper to absorb any remaining moisture and give it a good go over with some femfresh before the next ride. you can also put a Panty liner in it to help absorb the sweat on a really hot day.

Nothing wrong with the old RFS engined Kato’s
spares prices may be a little more exspensive, but generally speaking they are a good trail bike.

Rego requirements vary from state to state.
You really do need to get the bikes set up for legal riding as it opens up so many riding options.
At OBT we have some great father and son combos who get out in the bush together and have a great time.
Three that spring to mind are Mike and Tom from Noosa (WR’s) , Al and Corey from the Coffs Coast (DRZ’s), and Adam and Sam (KTM’s)Enjoy the site and I may see you both out there one day.
STM
Not to Forget Murph and Tim,
on the Kato’s from the Newcastle region
Squizz, the DR400’s and WR yamahaha’s are both fully road registerable and great bikes in the bush. Also a worthy mention would be a TTR250. To ride legally in NSW you need full Rd rego. This may change in the future (dont hold your breath) where there is talk of introducing a rec rego similar to VIC. Look at Paying about $400 a year for rego/CTP for a 250-650cc bike. (recently changed where sub 300cc bikes were markedly cheaper)
welcome to the site mate
Ollie
I dont import them anymore Corey, but I do recommend and use them
I still have a couple for crf 250/450 and kxf250/450 rmz/ 250/450
I actually gave away my last DRZ400 one to Dand
