mate already have an XR (81 XR500 ) and the technology has not changed much from then to now  the 500 is probably lighter and even cooler to ride B) I would have to spend endless time in the shed because Honda make stupid things mainly to appease the yanks , look at the triple clamp  desert racer written all over it
what about those pathetic rh footpeg brackets or the pain in the arse oil filler cap

    all time in the shed

    Ollie I know XR’s

Ollie, for one, your legs are too short to ride a BRP, then again they are fat little legs, at least you could hold one up.

Besides, If you had a XR, what excuse would you have, to have to go to the Shed EVERY night? They aren’t made in Europe mate. ;)

Gees my first thought was you are unbelievably tight Ollie then remembered the Mayor is going  and you couldn’t afford that :P
Listen Ollie I would donate a dollar for every piss poor excuse make for you and your light weight, rekulse equiped enduro weapon can’t climb a hill that both the XR650 and XR600 made it up say a certain little hill at Coffs (even Crash got up on the 6th go) but the national debt couldn’t support that ;)

    Just donate :P

Yep Aaron, you will need a Dolly, I use a steel rod about 300mm long and 12mm diameter. Make sure it has a nice sharp edge. Poke the dolly down thru the spacer and push it to one side to expose the bearing. Give it a nice firm hit with the trusty 2lb ball pein hammer then move the spacer to the other side and do the same again. You can make the job a bit easier by warming up the hub with a heat gun. When the bearing comes out remove the spacer flip the wheel over and do the same to remove that one.

Those Yamaha front bearings are piss weak in my opinion too small for the application. I remove the seals blow out the standard grease with compressed air repack with quality grease then put the seals back on. Get much better life from them.

The Old 360’s were actually 348cc from memory  Loved the flexibility of them the only pain in the arse was starting them, which by 2002 they had sorted with the decompression head, hopefully they will do the same or have an electric leg.

Welcome to the site dude B) This is my thoughts on a bike for someone getting back into it. Pretty much along the lines of Axels A lot of it will depend on your Skill level and your what bike fits you the best. The 4 stroke 400’s are a good all round bike but if you want to do a lot of single trail a 300 2t or 250 4t might be a better option. I recently sold an 04 Yamy 450 it was a beast of a thing to ride in the fast flowing stuff but wore me out pretty quick, and I really pumped some cash into it as well :(

The Euro 2 strokes are all good and are being seen out in the bush more and more. The Kato is a bit taller but has plenty of go and is very reliable (starter motor excluded ) I rode a 08 Husky 250 and that thing is a blade B) but the kicker is awkward and parts prices can be high. The TM is a very nice bike but probably aimed more for the Hard core rider. The Gasgas 300 is probably more trail bike oriented but still has plenty of grunt they are very reliable and spares prices are surprisingly cheap. I do get a lot of stuff O/s for mine but everything is available here as well. The Gasgas is also a bit shorter in the saddle which makes it easier in the slow going.
One other option you could consider in the 2T is a 98-01 Suzuki RMX yeah they are a bit older, but they go like stink and can be had for around 2-3K (ive still got mine and will never sell it)

    Happy Hunting mate
