Tez, you need to get onto a local distributor for your 4 litre bottles of oil ;) I dont think even the servo’s sell it in that quantity and you can bet not at $60 ;)

    try this http://www.lubesdirect.com.au/contact-lubes-direct.php

Don`t know if it relates to you, but I regularly clean any electrical areas on the Kwaka with CRC Contact cleaner & a light spray of WD to help keep everything clean & water repellant.
I realise that WD can break down the insulation on wiring, so I try & get it just up into plugs, connectors etc

Touch wood,,, No Electrical probs yet after 19,000k ;)

Good advice peeps ;) and this is coming from someone who has regularly tested the water tight integrity of his electrical system

mmm not to sure about using outboard oil on a regular basis in the dirt bike  only because an outboard has a constant flow of cooling water(sea, river lake ect)and will run at a cooler temp. I actually rang up the tech advise hotline (castrol from memory and he didnt think it would be a good idea) which is a bummer because I can get 2 stroke outboard at a really good price ;)

your other points are spot on tho ;)

I have an RMX among several other 2 strokes. I have been using Caltex Havoline which is a semi synthetic at 40:1 with good results. I usually fill up with the 4c a litre discount (presently 8c) and when you spend $2 or more in the shop you get another 2cents a litre off your fuel bill  1 litre of 2t is about $12 so pretty good B) Another really good oil is Mobil fully synthetic about $60 from a distributor mix that at 50:1

once you get a good result try and stick to it,ie same oil/same ratio makes jetting your bike a lot easier.also a bit of a difference in ratio’s aint going to hurt it to much ;)

Bundy 1.5 turns is from fully wound in Ie richest setting to 1.5 turns out ie anti clockwise. ;)

BTW generally if you are more than 2.5 turns out to get a good response (remeber 1/8 to 1/4) your pilot jet is to rich and you probably need to go down a size

Thats the sought of product review we want, keeps us blokes in the loop as to what is really worth having …..or Not!

cheers mate I was tossing up between those two as well you have just confirmed it for me B) Astericks it is ;)

BTW I have MSR’s http://www.bikegearwarehouse.com.au/mx-gear/Motorcross_Accessories/motorcross-msr-reflex-kneeshin-guards at the moment, really good knee gaurd for the outlay of about $70 from BGW but the alloy Hinge pins keep throwing the circlip and I have now lost a couple. If you put a dab of Silcone on them that would solve that problem. Not in the same league as the Astericks tho.

Thanks Ollie ;) Just as I had suspected. Will look out for some. I payed about $20 for aprox 8 Yamaha style bolts that I now know I can buy in a pack heaps cheaper. They might catch me once but they won’t do it again.

    Here you go Aaron ;)

Just Looking back through some old posts. Found this one and it reminded me about the cost of shims. Can you buy them in bulk like those assortment packs? If they were $15 dollars each you would need a security team to get them from the shop to home. I know they are made to tight tolerances and must be made out of hardened steel but why do they cost so much. You can see the value in bearings and the like but a tiny disk? The machine that makes them would probably punch out thousands of them in an hour. Hardly labor intensive.

yes you can buy them in an assortment pack about $150 (i think) but individually they are exspensive. A bit like carb jets I can get a pack of five for about $2 each the local Bike shop tried to charge me $23  although Ballards were only $8
