Hey what a great day we had there eh :woohoo: My brother Shane and I set off from our olds place at Cresent Head and rocked up to the meeting place to find a heap of other like minded Mad bastards waiting for the call. Had a few intro’s and admired Jeffro’s new Berg B)

Then it was all systems go must of been a great sight to see the convoy of cars utes and trailers heading up the Rd. B)

The weekend before I had a serious altercation with a log in the Watto’s when my left foot got crunched by a log in a rut :S Xrays yesterday confirmed two broken bones. :( Shane got his RMX started and warmed up and went to the riders brief while I attended to a missing handlebar securing nut. Which I eventually fixed having to resort to cable ties  Shanes RMX wouldnt start and the kick starter was pretty much useless :( He was going to get undressed and not ride so I told him to head out on the Gasser as I was still not ready,He didnt need to be asked twice  I wandered up to the check point and waited for him to come around then I would jump on the Gasser and do a loop,He rocks in with a huge shit grin grabs his card then heads off again      bastard!! just then Tiny rocks in on his big Husky complaining about having to do another lap  My hand went straight up and I said I would do it for him  :woohoo: No problems he said and I was off :woohoo: That thing is so nicely suspended like a big floating armchair with a shitload of torque :woohoo: I chased off after Moose but came unstuck on a slippery little log laying at a bad angle across the track and came down like a bag of Poo in the scrub  Twisted my bad foot while I was at it, great start I thought, better slow it down a notch or two  Got going again and rode the big girl in the meaty part of the band did I say this thing had some torque :woohoo: pulled my fat arse out of the slippery creek uphill in third gear B) I caught up to a Lad on the Husky 250 four stroke and started to go around the inside of him up the Hill that “Toes was filming on” but there was another bike already stuck there and the 2fitty had no option but to came across my front wheel and I go down like a bag of poo again  all on video  Thanks Peps for helping me get the big husky out of there. Got back to the start point and handed the 610 back to Tiny. Thanks mate for the ride loved it B) Mick was on his way out to close the first loop down and rearrange some bunting etc I said I would go with him as did Al on Coreys 4fitty KLX. I loved the Husky but realised pretty quickly the Gasser was more suited to my riding style and fitness levels  I let Mick and Al lead as my foot was really starting to Pump up and no amount of Panadiene Forte and Voltaren cocktail was really going to help. Al was riding the wheels off the KLX and having a blast nice to watch. Mick came undone on the uphill when a loose rock took his front wheel out  and I went down in sympathy as well  We eventually made it back to the BBQ to have a chat with the rest of the crew. My foot was now like a balloon so my ride was finished and I let Shane ride the 2nd loop.I caught up with a few boys and loaded up the RMX while Shane was blasting around chasing Luke on the other 300 Gasser.
Unfortunatley we didnt top up the fuel and he ran out half way thru the last lap  Mick had to go and rescue him after he got over his cramps
At the prize ceremony I caught up with the rest of the guys and was the last to leave, was going to have a beer at Micks but decided I best get going and keep the peace at home :(

Thanks everyone involved for the great weekend especially to the guys who set out a fantastic course ( be doing that again soon B) ) Thanks to Tiny for the loan of the 610 :woohoo: and Peps for pulling my arse out of trouble.

    until next time

all bikes should have 6 speeds IMHO

Why a gasser Ollie? So you can be waiting weeks for parts like Diddel? Non main stream “gee love those guards oh they dont make gasser ones” The gasser is a nice bike but parts availability and cost of bits and bobs. And for what extra that a main stream bike wont offer to the basic trailrider? I have been down the non mainstream road twice before never again.

    Just my opinion :)

    TB

GasGas 450 are one of the nicest 4 strokes ive ever ridden period and bike of the year a few years running (not sure which mag) never had an issue with parts prices or availability,(total gearbox rebuild including labor for under $800) plastics mmm Polisport do a good set, stickers Black bird I guess you just have to know where to look. They are real good value 2nd hand especially. Have fuel injection and a 6 speed gearbox. To top it off Im sure one of our sponsors would give a great deal to all Old Bulls ;) just my opinion, I reckon the KLX would also be a good thing probably get a good 08 for around $7k

Alan, from what I have seen, you need no more than the machine you rode on the weekend. You peddled that KLX450 like a man on a mission. The sensible thing for you to do in my books, is buy another one. Seeing as though your son has one, you will only need one set of spares and between you and Cory, in no time you will have a good knowledge of the bike and its workings. Very handy if you intend to ride together. That is my thoughts.

    Concur!

Pleasure meeting and riding with you Al and like Mick said you rode that KLX like it was stolen  Sorry Corey  I reckon go the KLX mate or Maybe a Gasser 450 ?
