Does the desert sand have the same consistency? It may be a dumb question but I have never really ridden the red sand and was just wondering? Its not a dumb question Mick, but i would say that sand is different from beach to beach and day to day,
wet, dry, course, fine, hot , cold, its all different.
One thing is the same though, its all fun :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I found the Simpson good but after over 1000 sand dunes it might be a different story, would like to try it thoughPTW

Good
It was fun the first time around, now we can move on.
Out of curiosity though, how many people NOT riding adventurized dirt bikes managed the sand section on the pegs? I have to know :pinch:
On the pegs all the way mate, I love sand :woohoo: I say more of it, lots of it, all of it 👿

August 23, 2013 at 12:38 pm in reply to: August Naivgation Ride 2013 Wauchope to Bacca and Back #248284To be honest, I’m not sure if it was the best one yet, every nav ride so far has been outstanding and it would be hard to pick a ” best one “, they have all been unique and this one was no different.
Right from the start it was on, some of the first section was familiar from riding with Mick and Strucky around the area but still as good as always.
( Note, i gave TB and Strucky some pink tape for the pre run and on the friday night they asked for some more, i gave the nearly a whole roll how could they possibly need more ? )
As we approached an intersection i began to laugh my arse off, all i could see was pink tape as far as the eye could see. Strucky really wanted to make sure we got this right. I shot off to pick up our third trusty sweep Fuchsy leaving Mick to cleaning up 984m of pink tape and 74 arrows, thanks Mick
Next was the Ghost Rd section and our first lost soul Greg, he joined us and we motored on to port, but not without me missing a few corners first then onto the ferry where we met up with some of the crew, a quick chat on the ride over then it was back to business.
Plomber Rd is great and Mick I were having a ball as we got stuck into the sand, I love riding sand and if it wasn’t for some 4×4’s we would of been side by side all the way. Then it was of to Kempsy and pick up a few riders along the way :woohoo: :woohoo:
A stop at the servo had us change some plans and thats where Mick took Amy’s crew through to Taylors Arms leaving Fucksy and myself to finish the rest of the route. I was having so much fun that I forgot that I was sweeping at times, the trails were awesome, definitely one of the more technical route’s. As we rounded a bend we came across Bucky as he had just finished his D9 impersonation, his bars were a little twisted and he was a tad sore but in good spirits, the guys said that they would just cruise out to the tar and when they asked me how far i guessed at around 10Km ( WRONG  ) the guys pushed on and Fuchsy and I sat back for 5 to let the guys get ahead, cruise ? Bucky and co said they would cruise ? bugger me, we were legging it and it didn’t seem like we were catching them  , the forrest was tight at this section so they couldn’t have missed a turn, after a while we could pick up a faint cloud of dust in the air but still i wondered if it was Bucky, JTB and Tractor, then as we round another bend we see another bike down as JTB had hit a slippery section, all was good and the guys asked again ” how far till the tar “, I consulted the gps and came up with 5 or 6 km ( WRONG  ) we cruised on at a cracking pace and i was still having a ball in these flowing trails. We caught up with the wauchope crew who had Puddles back on his bike and pointed him in the right direction and he was another one who was going to cruise out but we never caught the one legged mad man :woohoo: , he was gone. A quick chat to the wauchope guys and we were off.
We rounded up Bucky and crew again where we decided that if they got to the road and wanted to hit the tar then do so and that way the didn’t have to wait for us,” how far till the road ? ” Bucky asked ( can’t believe he asked me again after i made a meal of it the last two times ) but this time i had inside info from the Wauchope guys, ” about 10km to 15km mate ” ( WRONG  ), 30km later and we were still on dirt the Bucky crew must have been cursing me  . Soon we caught up with Puddles and had Steve on route. With everyone sorted, Fuchsy and I pushed on as we still had a long way to go, but it wasn’t far down the road i had my clutch cable snap :pinch: , luckily Nickj had one already in place ready to hook up and get moving again. With the deadline of 3:00 gone everyone was diverted to Nambucca but Fuchsy and myself still had a long way to go as we still had to sweep the rest of the route, but with no one in front it was time to have some more fun, navigation was going well and when we finally reached the lookout we both agreed that sure we were going to be late but we had to stop and take in the view, i took this opportunity to ring TB and found out that they were all having a beer( don’t ring next time ).
We started our decent down the mountain but we dropped the speed down as the light was short supply, as we got closer to civilisation i lost 3rd gear all of a sudden and without warning, we pulled up and immediately i thought about needing fire wood cause i could be there of awhile, further inspection was that i was screwed  , couldn’t get the bike into neutral so that meant i couldn’t start the bike, I was then kissed on the pecker by an angel as it dropped into neutral and i could start her up, get on and see how we go, Bowerville pub is where we got to, and that was the end of my ride as Steve headed out to pick me up. The weekend didn’t end well and i missed out on day 2 but i still had a great time, its easy to see why these nav rides are a big hit.
Thanks to King Strucky, Crash, Amy, Mick, Fuchsy for helping and doing a top notch job, Thanks to TB, and Steve for the massive effort you guys put in, and thanks to Yamaha and Adventuremoto for there support.
as always, can’t wait for the next one. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:PTW
