    Scrapheap Update

Well things are getting a bit busy at Scrapheap HQ and we have a few more details to update!

If you are coming or have a friend who is coming and not registered as yet, please go here and register http://www.scrapheapadventureride.com.au

We have 2 rides planned and other groups will be coming from various locations too. Let me know the details of your rides if you want others to tag along and we will let it be known in the e-updates. Big thank you to Tony Balkin and Dave and Karen Ramsay for puting their hands up to lead these rides!!

There will be the Adventure Moto Ride departing from Adventure Moto HQ – Dural Holiday Park. This ride will be led by Tony Balkin who is prerunning the ride this coming week. We will be departing 8am Thrusday 18th September. Tony has a great route planned to Gloucester on day 1, Mostly on dirt. Day 2 we will be heading North towards Gingers Creek along Knodding Bull Road. Its a geat road. then up through Yarras to Nymboida (?) but Tony will confirm the route once prerun.

David and Karen Ramsay will be running a Loop ride on the Saturday.
The Saturday Loop ride will be about 170k round trip, half bitumen, good gravel, short run through Ramornie twin track dirt/gravel with one short sharp climb & a few big erosion humps, 4 gates to open.
Riding it slow & steady it would take about 2 1/2hrs from Canoe centre to Rest Point Hotel, Copmanhurst, then roughly 2 hrs back to camp via Kangaroo ck rd or home shortcut on Armidale rd.
Unleaded is available at Pub or when we get to Sth Grafton, better options.Pub can handle large numbers no problem. Big open deck, & their burgers are good.
This loop is probably more suited to the bigger better handling bikes with reasonable clearance. Anyone with reasonable gravel rd experience will be ok. Small bikes & cars that may want to go for the run could easily take Laytons Range rd going anticlockwise out to Copmanhurst & meet up out there.
Only 12ks of gravel, smooth tight & windy with a few small causeways then good rural bitumen flowing up the valley following sandstone ridges to Coutts Crossing.I imagine you’ll have someone that can follow us in a 4×4 ute or good bike trailer to collect the dead.Fuel; roughly 110ks from camp to Grafton, we’ll go past 2 servos as we come into Sth Grafton.

I am really loving this build Charlie

    It looks so ‘Right’

From Kansas Charlie – Build Update
Unfortunately I have a long way to go, still have to find room for the exhaust servo, and cut the fuel tank in half and weld it up. Then of course there is the matter of getting it to start, it hasn’t ran in 3 years. Oh and I can’t forget that is has no brakes, chain or sprockets, lol. But I am really looking forward to the first test ride :)

The Advmoto ride this year is shaping up to be a cracker!!!!

I have just been chatting with Tony Balkin, who rode an $850 Suzuki DR650 Dakar to Cameron Corner in 2011 will be leading the ride.
Tony took his Scrapper DR650 Dakar across the Simpson and the story is a great watch and can be seen here:
We have a great route planned and will post more details once Tony has prerun the route
