    A few things to cogitate here . . . . .

Looking at the front end, the RG triple trees have a decent amount of offset, so I will need to do some basic trigonometry after some careful measurements to work out of the DR600 forks will suit.

    photo%2011-XL.jpg

I picked up a boot load of spares including spare tank, some sidecovers, engine sidecovers, a clutch, 2 x wiring harness’s and a couple of spiders and 14 cockroaches.

Best of all a stock airbox!!

I want to run the stock setup as I will be riding on dirt roads

Once Bill Wilkin and I installed the front end we thought we would put the panels on and check for clearance issues. Need to remove some excess bits off te lower tripple clamp. Also move the Radiator down about 12 mm.

On initial measuring the front wheel wont hit either the header pipes or the Radiator

    IMG_3270-XL.jpg

A few more from other angles. Steering head angle looks to be less than 30Deg but will be adjusted during the build. The screw drivers will be removed before its finished :)

    IMG_3274-XL.jpg

The rear end is under contemplation next. Seat height will be around 880mm

    IMG_3272-XL.jpg

    RG without the body work.

The front end looks pretty straight forward and I can do some adjustments to get the geometry perfect.

    IMG_3278-XL.jpg

I now need to focus on the rear end and coming up with a rear suspension that wont destroy me or the bike

    IMG_3282-XL.jpg

Not a lot of space in there above the airbox. The swingarm will have to be extended to about 600 – 620 mm to make it work.

    More to come B)

    Well . . . . .

The RG has arrived at the Skunkworks.

A BIG Thanks to Andrew for the bike

I have it sitting in the shed next to the donor bike. It is a tiny bike. I have taken a few rough measurements and looks like the complete DR600 Front end will need to be bolted on. Had a look at the DR front rim and it has numerous cracks and will need replacing too. Then a closer check of the rear wheel and it has two big flat spots opposite each other

Looking at the rear floater suspension rocker pivot and the differ by about 20mm. I may just use the RG swing arm and stick the DR rocker in and see how that works. Then get a heavier spring for the RG shock.

I put the Nomad tank on the rear seat and it fits right in there like it was meant for it.

I have to pick up a box of other bits from Andrew this week and then I will see what I have.

Well picked up the DR600 Dakar yesterday.

Its as rough as expected, but for $184.50

I had an old set of DRZ400 bars I bolted on for transport.

Note the rear axle is a tent peg and the swing pivot is a . . . . . er . . . missing :woohoo:

    IMG_3246-XL.jpg

I will be pulling the Full Floater out of the back and hopefully it will squeeze in the back of the RG250

    IMG_3250-XL.jpg

Hoping the Front end will fit in too. The forks look ok.

Mallee, I will post a whats needed once I get started. but couldn’t pass on this running gear.

It was great to be on the Adventure Moto Ride. Lead be Trailboss from the Old Bulls, with Lefty sweeping on day one and and Mick Debreceny and Charlie Loomis sweeping on day 2. Steve Smith and Maxx were at the back of the pack as usual dishing up encouragement, fuel and trailer space as required. Thanks All!!

The Adventure Moto Ride left Bathurst on Thursday Morning, and the Mighty XR460/4 proved a little tough to get started, I did bring a second battery and eventually it fired up and we were ready to depart, I started to smell petrol and looked down and it was draining out quite quckly, so I turned off the fuel tap and rode until it coughed and turned it back on again. This happen a few times but eventually it stopped as we left the town of Bathurst and headced towards Ophir.

    Little bit off the GoPro

It was a great ride and apart from nearly collecting 2 deaf Kangaroo’s, well they must have been deaf cause the XR460/4 aint exactly quiet, the ride was well planned and the cornerman system worked a treat. We stopped up behind Wellington at Wolfies farm and had a late breakfast of Bacon and egg rolls, Scones coffee and Cheescake to keep us full of energy. Thanks Wolfie and Rachel B)
