Rider Update
Dougie “Bullfiddle” Bull is a key member of The Hillbillies SAR4 team, a double-bass player extraodinaire and purveyor of the finest used bib-n-brace overalls in the region. Dougie is a powerhouse of ingenuity and design but the wiring on the XT500 is a puzzle! The big bunch of wires in his hand goes with the other bunch of wires on the bike apparently, but as this photo was taken rather late in the evening, anything could have happened. The ever so slightly manic look on his face isn’t much of a departure from normal, but it’s a bit of a worry when he gets to looking like this……
When I visited him yesterday at his workshop in beautiful downtown Mayfield he was as always supremely confident that the XT would come together in time for the SAR……. the photo might suggest otherwise but I saw all the bits, looks to me like he’s going for a flat tracker theme and I reckon it’s going to look great. He started to talk at me about the way the total loss 6 volt system used a capawhatsit to drive the prosicator……..replaced with a 6-volt dry something or other…….negative reverses on the ignition…… well when I woke up we were talking about exhaust pipes and he was shoving some bits of exhaust in the back of my car, apparently for a an exhaust mod on the BEEMERNATOR …..
Nearly there, nearly there!!

Australian Safari Legend Allan Cunynghame has just registered for Scrapheap 2013!!!
Great to have Allan on board. I asked what he was riding?
‘The bike is not to exotic but has a bit of history it’s an 2000 XR650 with the side covers off the last bike I rode in the Baja 1000 and the head light is off the bike I rode in the 1991 Australian Safari ‘

March 19, 2013 at 2:00 am in reply to: 2013 Scrapheap Adventure Ride – Back ‘O’ Bourke – March 29-30 #238380We have another sidecar coming from the Inverell area. Rusty Holton’s GS1100G suzuki outfit, he built it himself. Once he puts an anchor and the rest of the safety gear onto it, he should have a reasonable fishing boat.

Mike Harding – PE400
This is one scrapper that is not for the faint hearted, an 1980 Suzuki PE400 two stroke and drum brakes.
This is an awesome old dirt bike but Mike says he’s ‘Struggling to get lights working…..’At the very bottom is a Youtube video of one is Gawler, and after watching that video, when Mike makes it to Comeroo, I will be buying him a beer.

Now we all remember Mick O’Briens GT750 Scrapper, well it is need of some major TLC after 2 Scrapheap Adventure Rides, so Mick has been stealthily and feverishly working away in the shed and managed to couple together this beast for 2013.
Its a big bang HRC CT125 and off the side is his home built sidecar. Please note his travelling luggage.
In local newspapers local graziers are expressing concern stating ‘These The Team Inverell guys really have the prices in the Ag bike market in northern NSW on the rise, wonder if they could ride some lambs next year’
Micks old GT750, which won best Scrapper in 2012
G’day Rob,
Welcome!!
Im an old Camden boy, left in 2000 when I got married
Miss the old haunts

Team Hillbillies bikes #1 & #2 rego’ed
The first two of the Hillbillies bikes have been registered, one is a 197* Honda CB350 in close to original order, belongs to Glennys. The second one is a Yamaha XV750, belongs to Owen. Bike #3 is an early Yamaha XT500 with a few mod’s,belongs to Dougie, it’s still on the bench but will be back together this weekend. Bike #4 is of course the mighty BEEMERNATOR. Looks like we’ll have 5 riders sharing 4 bikes and the back-up troopy. I’ll post some pics on the weekend. So, 28 days today and I become redundant from my job …… 29 days from today I go on SAR4 Rebuilding the mighty BEEMERNATOR has become quite therapeutic

Col Meacham – Team Inverell
Passed Rego, had a test run to town and back and now ready to go.
Top speed 95.7 kph downhill with an moving average of about 75kph.
Working dog Molly is on the front with the Team Mascot “Scrapper” on the back. Molly will not be going with me.
The fuel tank gives the bike some credibility. It was mounted on a DR for an Australian Safari a number of years ago. The bike, and tank, finished on the podium.
Wikepedia states the following,
Capacity – 180.2 CC
HP – 13.2 HP @ 7500 rpm
Weight 106.5 kg
Fuel Capacity – 6.2 ltI say the following;
Performance – Marginal
Comfort – Marginal
Handling – Marginal
Reliability – We will see
Fuel Capacity – 16 lt

Graham Fuller has caught a bad dose of Scrappers Syndrome :woohoo:
Already buying a rough DR250 Scrapper, he has felt the insatiable need to buy another rough DR250 Scrapper, even the same year 1982
“New beast. Crook coil, also scored another motor and some spare bits! Should have this one going soon I hope”
