Wez Jenkins
Hi we are the Team Nic and Wez. Having brought this bike for a grand, thought this would be a great event to enter for its maiden voyage. She is a GSX1100EF, which looked way better in the Bike Sales photos, lots of corrosion and a motor that was unknown at the time. (Other than the sellers, please buy me burst!) Have put three loads of oil through her so far and had the clutch out. Amazingly the motor is very good; it just looks like an unwanted child; broken indicators, mirrors, fairing. I don’t think anyone ever gave it a high pressure clean, the grease under the RH side and surrounds was incredible!
Have a few things to tackle before the ride, the front fork seals need doing and the fork legs have the most rust i have ever seen! The carbs need a balance and the broken bits replaced. Thanks to the support of my local club (Maffra Sale Vintage Motorbike Club) she will be on Club Plates for the event (Victorian Red Plate Scheme for bikes >25years old) A couple of local businesses are helping out as well; Fozzy’s Motorbike Repairs and Marathon Electrical.
Overall getting the bike ready isn’t really that big of a challenge and the location really isn’t that far away for us. I have never raised money before and i see that as the biggest hurdle. Hopefully we will reach our target of $5k and good luck to everyone else raising money as well!
CheersRider Update:
Bruce is coming from Queensland
Bike is an ’89 KLR250.
The bike was part of a deal my son did with someone for some electrical work. ($300)
So it sat in a shipping container for 4 years in Mackay.
Being a mining type electrician all over the country type young bloke …
the container ended up in Tin Can Bay…
Of course the bike had no electrics at all and exhaust cam sprocket spinning on the cam, rusted out tank bla bla
I’m fairly used to that sort of stuff…
Anyway she’s up n running now and Rego’d..
Last Easter I was out at Noccundra Pub with my partner on our FJR1300 doing a bit of a camp trip and came across Shannon Parker doing his 2nd Scrapheap run on his stuffed Gold Honda XL500s
After helping him load the Honda onto a flat top semi heading back to Brissy, I said to Deb
“I’m going to do that next year”
So there you are…the whole story
Interesting bit is that I only have 4 days to do the trip.
Adds to the challenge.Cheers

Tamworths Peter Baxter is gearing up for a Big ride!!
My bike is a TF 100 which I purchased off a farmer for $350.00 I spent another 300 to get it registered. The photo on the website shows the bike in its work livery. I have rigged it up for doing GPS surveys along the road. It is a wonderful machine for this as it has a clip on the clutch and the front brake. I need to stop every 10m or so when doing surveys of this nature. I currently have it in the workshop getting new tyres and tubes. I figure we will do about 60kph for the trip. Everyone seems to concerned about the weight to power ratio but I believe if I just plug along it will make it no problems.
I will be with Rod Hemmings and our goal is to ride over as many dirt roads as we can find between here and our destination.
Good Luck Peter and Rod
Well I have been busy today and with the help of Ray Tollhurst at Camden Airport I have made a single seat base in fibreglass today. Just have to mount up the rubber spacers, the hinge and catch and then off to the trimmers
Wato’s K100RS scrapper, started life as a $500 special and I use the ‘Special’ term loosely! With 400,000 k’s on it and the engine had more knocks than a door to door salesman. It has more leaks than Julia Gillards Cabinet
He has put another engine in and this bike is Grandads Axe. K100RT Bike K100RS Engine, K100LT engine, K75 Gearbox. Its close to running and will be ready for the Scrapheap Adventure Ride!!!!!
Scrapper from 2011, Vincent Comet frame with Honda TL125 running gear, travelled from Tamworth to the corner. Top speed 75kph
