Interesting how it is ok for police to attach a Scala Rider Comms set to their helmet. I suppose it is the same as why they can use mobile phones while driving.

The interesting thing about this January 2014 article is it says they contacted Police about helmet-cams and all said they were legal.
Back in January 2014.
The MCC advice is: if you are booked for having a helmet-cam, fight it. Get a Solicitor and ask your Solicitor to contact the MCC. We have information that will help.Rider to contest fine for GoPro on helmet – Motorbike Writer

MOTORBIKEWRITER.COMSam Cannuli Dear Sirs,
I was issued with Infringement Notice No XXXXXXXXXXXXX on the basis my helmet is not in compliance with NSW Road Rule 270.NSW Road Rule 270 requires a rider to wear “an approved motor bike helmet” NSW Gazette of 5 November 2010 at Page 5402 carries the definition for “an approved motor bike helmet” for purposes of Road Rule 270.
This definition provides for “approval” through a sticker attesting compliance with a nominated standard.
helmet cam
Infringement noticeMy helmet continues to bear the approval sticker as required.
A camera is an accessory. Many accessories are available for helmets. Accessories are distinct from a modification.
Removal of an accessory returns the helmet to original condition, while modification of a helmet does not.
There is no NSW regulation that provides for revocation of approval of a motor bike helmet.
My helmet was “approved” prior to purchase and it is because it was approved for use on NSW roads that I purchased it.
The standard referenced in the definition of Page 5402 of the Gazette of 5 November 2010 is not a regulation and contains no regulatory subject matter that provides for approval or revocation of approval.
The referenced standard is not a NSW in-service regulation. Without doubt, I was and continue to wear an approved helmet. The presence of an accessory camera is irrelevant.
This Infringement Notice is not based on NSW regulations and I request that it be withdrawn.
Yours, etc
November 28 at 5:39pm · Unlike · 2Sam Cannuli I have spoken to the authority on helmets and in his words the police are fabricating and issuing fines for helmet cameras and there is no such law in this area. No laws exist re the use of accessories on helmets. Do not pay the fine and use the above letter.

Brett Blackshaw You have to remember the state has been mismanaged to the point of bankruptcy by successive governments. They need to defraud everyone of their hard earned somehow.
November 28 at 7:41pm · LikeSam Cannuli The traffic cops are all on the nose at present when it comes to bikes….my advice is to record all conversations and take your own photos and videos for evidence. They will learn.
November 28 at 9:16pm · LikeTony Robson All I have to say on the matter is Michael Schumacher is now completely screwed because of a helmet mount go pro, and besides which a lower angle like a chest mount or fairing mount are much better shots. Food for thought people. i wouldn’t wear one on my skid lid, thats for sure. Pick your fights

No Wuckers mate – I’ve seen a radiator speared before – fast way to grind a ride to a halt. I’ll be running the current set up till I get back then will muck around trying to fit it

Thought about running nothing but was also more concerned about something piercing from the front – which would be my luck :pinch:
I will wait till after the Rideadv nav ride then have a go at trying to fit the tank.
Thanks for the feedback – appreciated
