Just an update in case anyone else has the same issue at some stage. Nothing was caught in the fan, checked all wires etc all ok. Put a 15amp fuse in and seems to be doing the trick.

Well it sure as hell was muddy and wet on Sunday which was when i had the problem. I replaced the fuse before the ride and made sure it was working again, which it was so i guess it could be something (mud etc) that jammed the fan.

I will check it out and make sure there is nothing that has gotten caught in there and wires etc.

Gees Adam you should have mentioned the go faster and you wont need a fan tip earlier …. to think i have just been holding back to check out the scenery  :S

Thanks for that, I am kind of looking forward to this. Always a bit hesitant to work on my KTM in case i cant put it back together for the next weekend which would = no ride :(

But with this I have a whole month to put it back together! What could possibly go wrong? (Hush – not a word!!) ;)

I saw Amy do some pretty cool stuff with her bike and she can pick up it to! Cant believe she rode a heap of singles with it!

But there is already a DR650 in the shed so looks like that is the go for starters to see if i really enjoy it or not. I will try not to spam the site with dumb ass questions in the weeks to come …

Thanks Eagle, just watched the vid.

Jeffro i can pick up the BMW (i tested this when i was doing alot of dirt by myself) but probs not with gear and certainly not with any gradient added. Hope all is going well for you on your big adventure :) .

After reading a few of the reports from the last ride i am thinking the DR650 is probably the better option for me mainly because of the weight, didnt realise i had to factor in falling off so much with this type of riding  .

Well I have sure seen enough threads about making a DR650 adventure ready so i guess i better get onto it if i am aiming for August :)

Ok i am keen to try a bit of this type of riding so i currently have two options when it comes to bikes both are currenlty stock … the question is which one would be best for me for this type of riding?

    1. DR650 – this is not as comfy on the tar but i am thinking the weight is better for the not so smooth stuff. Currenlty cant go more than 10 minutes up the road before you need fuel so first thing would be larger fuel tank! :S
    2. BMW 650 – OMG i love the heated hand grips  and much more user friendly on the butt …can be a bit heavy though

I guess the question is how rough do the trails get that you go on?

Thanks for all the tips guys, ordered said chain and front sprocket yesterday and received them today … Nice work Sutto’s! Here is my tip …. That chain comes in silver and gold which I didn’t realize and ended up with the gold one ….. Going to look a bit odd amongst all the orange but better then bench time ;)
gold or silver? Doesn’t matter after a couple of rides its going to be black with chain lube anyway ;)
It really is very gold! But after Stu and Jeffro both shaking their heads at my chain and front sprocket on the Buttaba ride i thought i had better address the problem, but Adam suggested there back sprocket still seems fine for the time being….. on the upside there are alot of orange bikes out there these days so i at least i will be able to pick one is mine easy enough :S

Murph is on the money Rach, steel sprockets and RK 520 X Ring chain.

Steel sprockets will last much longer than alloy.

Call Suttos, they have great deals on sprocket and chain combos.

    Cheers Marty

So looks like its going to be a good ride hey Murph  I owe you BIG time!

I promise my skills (and fitness) have improved a little bit since that other ride. I have a new clutch lever thats nice and light so I’m looking forward to some good singles.

I can’t gaurantee I wont do dumb stuff like fall down into the creek again though  :pinch:

Take me through the test track again and see what you think.

Good news on the new clutch lever OG! That last was crappy as I wouldn’t have lasted 10 minutes with that.
