thanks Murph…this one was Micnmel’s old one…finally got time to restore it. I have a complete set of ‘small’ IT’s now…just missing an IT125 but I wont be greedy
Kye…I have a 2003 Sherco 250..easy to ride and maintain. Im riding Clubman at Wollongong MC and handles it with ease..great fun bike
sorry you lot, the IT250 is on permanent hold til I fix the burred threads on the countershaft. I cant get the nut on without burring it more, so its been put away til its sorted. I need to get the 400F ready for the next Vinduro soon.
the garage suffered a bit of damp yesterday from the drenching we had. I grab the camera tomorrow and see what I find in there….maybe more than 1 IT I recon….
things have been on hold over these past couple of months, family, ex etc…
But I have the IT250 at the front of the queue now and getting started on it again soon. The new sidecovers and rear guard fit lovverly and the parts came in from Motoduro so they will be fitted too!
Pic to follow soonnot enduro oriented, but trials stuff..
I rode with the Canberra trials Club and Wollongong MCC this year and although I have an 03 Sherco and its a wonderful bike to ride, it was the 1974 Yamaha TY250 that did it for me.
2nd overall Clubman Grade in the Wollongong MCC for 2013, and although the results havent been tallied yet for Canberra Club I was 2nd or 3rd in a few trials beating alot newer and/or new trials bikes in Clubman Grade.I have a new seat cover for it and will be ordering another new tool bag. parts from Motoduro havent arrived as yet.
Heres some pics of the rebuild…

bike is almost completeanymore on the build? IM interested what brand of piston you went with?
more on the looong rebuild of the IT. Ive had to lash out on a new intake manifold and a few bits from Motoduro and now it looks like I have to get back to them on more bits. The clutch cable holder is the problem now as I cant find 1 in OZ or the US, so its back to Blighty.
In the meantime Ive bought a pair of IT 175’s, 1 complete and goes!!! The other was a parts bike, but it will also grace the road.
Ill get some new pics up here of the 3(or 4) bikes this week. The IT250 is almost complete, the engine is back in the frame after a new shift shaft was fitted and the countershaft was re-threaded. I have to buy a new inlet manifold(unless someone is willing to part with 1), find the newish rear guard and finish the wiring to finally start it.
So its finally getting to be in one piece again!!!
Im not sure if it will be complete for CD10, but the TY250a and the IT400 is ready!yep been there meself not too long ago. A bit scary when they dont tell ya what’s going on in there, but all good in the end. It wasnt my heart or lungs..I now have rheumotoid arthritis in the sternum. The pain I had in the same area and it had the marks of a heart attack.
Rest up and dont do anything stupid, it’ll only hurt more.I missed the Classic Dirt 9 this year, did anyone go?
I hope to go to CD10 next year with both IT250 and the IT400 as well as my TY250a.Ive sorted the rear wheel on the iT400 a couple of days ago with a home made spacer. Now there is no sideways movement!! :woohoo:
just an update…
the engine has been rebuilt and awaiting a couple of small items to finish it, then back into the frame. Ive picked up 2 brand new tyres for the bike. I’ll probably rattlecan paint it as its easy to touch up if needed.
The rest of the bike will be cleaned and refitted, hopefully soon.
Pics to come… -
