March 6, 2011 at 7:01 am in reply to: Re: Mar 20th. Nowra to Wandy & back. Grade 2-2.5 (Date changed) #197767after trying for over an hour last week of trying to kick the IT into life, I went back to basics and found the coil earth in pretty bad shape. All fixed now and it starts on 3rd kick from cold!
If you are doing anymore rides in the area, I’ll drag a mate down as well, he knows that place well.March 5, 2011 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Re: Mar 20th. Nowra to Wandy & back. Grade 2-2.5 (Date changed) #197735Perfect, thanks for the offer, but I’ll be out at Lochmaree on my IT400. If I wasnt going there i would have tagged along.
February 27, 2011 at 7:04 am in reply to: Advice please; Going back to a 2T after many 4T bikes #197361As I’m a real novice with this proper trail thing after many years of trail riding on a trials bike, I pinched the cook’s XT250. Yeah I know it’s a 4T, but it ticked all the right boxes, light, fun and with more k’s on the clock I reckon it’ll get more power out of it. As you will read in other posts, it got up some snotty hills around Nowra with the slightest of moaning. I also have an IT400 I want to get on the trails, but it has to be rego’d.
I’ve heard the TM and the KTM do great 2T in the 250 and 300 range, but I think you have to sort the suspension etc to get the most outa them.
Good luck!1974 TY250a, I use it for the trials and trails. Its brought me many trophies ove the years..even beating the newer bikes too!

February 24, 2011 at 10:56 pm in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197303gotta laugh at others and your own failings sometimes, it help break the crap that can happen.
Cant wait to come ride with the OBT
Thanks for all your comments and help, I’ll see if I can fit them all in the fannypack…February 24, 2011 at 10:43 pm in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197301I’ll add to the list needed:
Solicitor
sense of adventure
humourous attitude
provide much mirth when applicable
enjoy the ride…
Now thats simple..February 24, 2011 at 10:59 am in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197274Beemer,
Started in trials at Denman, moved to Sydney area and joined the Lower Mountains club and now based in the Illawarra. Ive competed in club, state and in OZ titles in 2009 on my trusty TY250a! I have a 2003 Sherco as well for the State trials..All good fun. We are going to South OZ for the OZ titles this year..February 24, 2011 at 12:19 am in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197264let me see:
bumbag full of KTM mechanics, tools ( the same), tubes, jocks, socks and lolly snakes
bash plate
rear alloy rack
bob’s avatar( for inspiration on snotty hills)
Maps, or co-erce a mate into riding sweep
Big hammer,
tie wire
a bright sparkIs that it?
oh money for beer and a good sense of humour..right whens the next South Coast ride??
February 23, 2011 at 12:15 pm in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197242thanks all. I had an idea of the basics, what to take in the bumbag or backpack but this extra info is very welcome. Another item we are looking at is a decent alloy rack over the rear guard.
All of the items mentioned arent that pricey, just have to get it sorted and practise the tyre changes now!February 23, 2011 at 1:50 am in reply to: what to take on rides and what do the organisers provide? #197237thanks STM, I’d like to take the IT400 out, but until rec rego comes in, the XT will be the one! Its a new bike so its maintained pretty well. After the Nowra ride I know we will have to get a bash plate at least..I have ridden on a few rides with mates, so am used to carrying a backpack and camelback. Ive ridden trials for over 26 years, so some extreme stuff is ok..Just have to get used to this sitting down stuff!
Hope to join the in the fun soon! -
