I’m in the process of stripping a TY250D for rebuild.
Great old bike, i have ridden them in trials and as a trail bike as well.Hello Adam,
Sorry to hear about your problems on the Coffs ride.Though i will not have to worry about a filter in my fuel injection (carbies rule) i am interested in the kill switch problem.
Can you post up the issue and the fix?
Thanks,
Rebore.
Looks and sounds like everyone had a great time.
Sorry i couldn’t be there but daughters only turn 21 once.3K for charity is awesome. :cheer:
Probably for the best my arm is still stuffed from Nundle.

Hello Squizzy,
My valves are adjustable although i have grown out of adjusting valves and replacing cam chains.
Mine has not had a cam chain replaced yet.
I cannot tell you if the 08 and later models handle better than the 05 but of course they are more refined the younger they are it depends on your budget.
As you say just regular filters, oil, brake pads, chains, sprockets and tires no different from any other bike. There are quite a few KTMs in the OBs but what you generally see is a minority with “orange envy” butting in on these threads.

Hello Sqizzy,
I bought an 05 KTM450EXC a couple of years ago.
I still have it and probably will for some time to come.
When i bought it it had 6,000 ks on it and it was in good condition.
I give it filters and oil at regular intervals and check the valve clearances every 12 months.
I don’t ride it every weekend probably once a month and it has served me very well.
Yes KTM parts are expensive but then again so are most genuine spares.
I get all my parts at Suttos and get a good deal through the Old Bulls discount.
You can get after market parts off the net and save some money but i find with freight it comes out about the same.
The reason i bought the KTM was that it came with all the right gear already fitted and didn’t require performance add ons to make it handle, stop or go.
Also the 450 has the power to drag my sorry arse up large hills.
I don’t think the KTMs need any more maintenance or cost any more to run than any other bike.JMHO!

Happy to help when it’s appreciated so much!

I had a great weekend at Nundle,:cheer:
Arrived on Friday night for set up and a catch up.
Headed out on Saturday morning on some excellent trails and singles.
The country around this area is some of the best i have ridden.
Decided to take a soil sample in the morning leaving me sore on the right side then decided to even it up with another soil sample on the left side in the afternoon.:pinch:
I didn’t mind the ADV ride to the Berry Patch as it ended with a great lunch and some berry icecream.
Had an interesting chat with the trail bike cops on the verandah.
I bailed out near the end of the Saturday ride due to war wounds and the temptation of not lining up for a shower.
Bumped into the ADV crew on the way into the park as they were heading for the pub, all smiles must have been a good ride.
Turned up at the pub to try some oral pain killers and nearly succeded.
Picked up a nice KTM camp chair in the raffle.
The old body wouldn’t let me ride on Sunday so with Merv’s help i loaded up and headed for home. Thanks to the Tamworthians for organising the event, Merv for the help on Sunday, the girls at the pub putting up with a rush of food orders and Sam for the company in the car on the way up.
As usual a great OBT ride and once again caught up with old OBTs and met some new ones.
It was all good.
Sorry i am going to miss Coffs.

I neglected to mention that it was all B side 60s and 70s music!

Adam.
we will be getting to nundle around 11.30ish, I think we may be putting up the wilde earth moving marque for the first 2 hours, , What time do yous look like getting there.
Boony
12:30ish, GPS says it will take 3 1/2 hours and Merv was getting to mine a bit before 9:00 for a cuppa and a 9 o’clock departure.
We should make your 1:30ish ride with time to spare especially if your putting up the marquee first
Burgie9 is that keen he was planning on getting there today :woohoo:
Adam.
3 1/2 hours?
Which way are you going Adam?By the way tell Sam not to worry about car music i have all the hits from the 60s and 70s loaded for the trip!

Hello Boony,
I am planning to be in nundle at exactly some time on Friday.
My bike is registered but i don’t have blinkers fitted so i don’t know how keen the local constabulary will be.
I will be trail riding not ADV, it’s not that i don’t like ADV ridng i just don’t have an ADV bike.
(although Mick did try to flog me some red collectors item that he had in his shed)I will be attending all the trail riding culinary events!
I already have a moustache so i will pass on getting one on the ride!
See you there!
