Hello Protty,
It’s all been said!
I had a great time.
I would line up to do it all again as well.Rebore.
I agree with Mick, it was a fantastic weekend.
I had some small issues to start with, leaving my helmet at home for one.
A big thanks to the young bloke at Mud and Tar that sold the embarrassed old guy a new lid.
OBT discount and all, couldn’t have done that thru the internet.Saturday started with a quick bunting party on the seniors loop and then back to start the sweep duties.
I was on the junior loop although i thought by the look of it i was actually on the seniors.
First job was to fix a mis-aligned chain on a KTM for a very polite young rider who gave a big thanks as he took off.
Couple of sweep loops and it was time to help out in the bog with the some of the OBTs
I spent the rest of the day there pushing bikes, sliding down into the creek and having quite a few laughs.
The bog was that bad at the end of saturday we were pushing 125s and old bulls out of it.Sunday we were up bright and early again for the sprint series.
I lead out the 65s for the sighting lap and then broke in at varies times to sweep behind the 85s.
I had my turn off the bike and in the trees which was all good fun.
The junior track was great with a few races between Old Bulls at times.
I was rounded up by Protty on one corner which scared the SH#T out of me.:S
It was another long day but what a great day, good weather, good track, good people.I have never swept an event before so this was a first.
I’d do it again in a heart beat if i get the chance.
Not only did i get to ride but i felt like i had contributed to make the event run smoothly which was pretty satisfying.
Mick is right when he said that it was good for OBT profile.
I had quite a few riders and parents ask me if we were a professional group of marshalls and if we did other events.
Admittedly these people did not visit us during our bench racing around the fire at night so we probably had them fooled. 😆As always the OBT guys that i met were all good blokes, just as quick with a joke and a laugh as they are to help.
I don’t think it can be said enough it was a great weekend.
:cheer:
Oh! for all you blokes that missed out.
Rebore.

July 11, 2011 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Most damage to a new bike in the shortest time possible #204685I believe that the riders of thoroughbred european machinery have reached an accord!:woohoo: 😆
July 11, 2011 at 6:44 pm in reply to: Most damage to a new bike in the shortest time possible #204682I take your point Iva, and well made it is from your perspective.
But if i am to look at this from a herd mentality stand point, i would have said that the KTM was the herd bull prepared to fight while the lesser weeker bikes in the herd ran for their lives.
During the KTMs heroic stand it has been battle scared but not beaten.
From all reports the KTM will live to fight another day, can we have truly have said this of any other make? I guess we will never know!:laugh:
July 11, 2011 at 5:44 pm in reply to: Most damage to a new bike in the shortest time possible #204680I for one think that you have misrepresented this poor animal.
Only a dog of extremely refined taste would eat an orange motorcycle.
It’s obvious to me that any self respecting dog would eat nothing less than a KTM.
And there are so many bikes out there that are in many ways less than a KTM.:lol:July 10, 2011 at 1:21 pm in reply to: Sweep Riders needed. State Sprints, Mt Seaview. JULY 23-24 #202659Hello Mick,
I’m still in !As long as the greenies are ok with that?
I have to admit i have bought parts for OS suppliers for various reasons.
Mainly to do with parts that are unavailable in Aus.I was reading this topic yesterday before i went to Suttos to pick up some parts off Scott.
It gave me a chance to question why i drove all they way out there to pick up parts that i could have bought OS off the net.This is what i came up with;
Suttos give me an OBT discount (and i think they actually do a little better)
I was going to buy the aftermarket brand but Scott offered me KTM parts at the same price.
When i researched on the net i could have bought cheaper but with the added freight it cost nearly the same.
When i am at Suttos i get to walk around the shop and have a look at what’s new and check out the bikes i can’t afford.
If i like something i can try it on, if its not right i can bring it back.
I am one of those people that likes to have an aimless wander around bike shops and they don’t mind.
I can have a chat with the staff and they are always pleasant and we talk bikes which is all good. (talked to Scott about OBT B,Day ride)
I can get technical advice over the counter.
I’ve discussed new bikes with Sutto and he says that when i’m ready i can ride a few (i know that you don’t buy bikes off the net but without bike shops that’s probably where you will have to order them from in a bleak future).
And there are probably more warm and fuzzy reasons why i like to buy from bike shops like Suttos.I understand that there are a few cowboys in the bike industry and i know that there is always a bargain to be had on the net and yes in certain circumstances i will buy parts off the OS web sites.
But if we can support the good bike shops like Suttos (and there are others) we can ensure that we will always have somewhere to try things on, have a chat, look at what’s new, try and work out how to buy it, suppport local so they can support us and get parts and accessories at a reasonable price.Just my TCW.
