Sweet !
twobanger
There were 77 teams in the event, including the 9? ironman guys. Most of the teams were 4 man, so my maths would be …
58 x 4 = 232
10 x 2 = 20
9 x 1 = 9Guessing total riders around the 260 mark, and a few no shows means about 250 on the day.
Yes they did close entries, mustve been when they hit the 250 mark.

Cathi and some of the Batemans Bay ladies are going to Kowen, hope its not too hard.
Hey Wazzup,
Was funny really cos the track condition changed 3 times during the day.
Early in the morning it was very slippery and greasy from the overnight dew.By 10-11am the track had dried a bit and was pretty good for a few hours.
By 3pm it was so rutted and worn, the creek exits were pretty bad compared to the morning.
And CathiM broke her rib falling off the Husky on a ride at Belanglo SF, not cos I didnt like her cooking !
Yeah, we went too – entered a Mixed Team and turned out to be the only Mixed Team in the event. The plan was 3 girls 1 guy, but due to injury it was 3 guys and 1 girl.
I think all the riders found it a bit tougher than the promoters advertised, there were no real open areas so most of the course was reasonably tight single track for 10 km, which really makes you work the whole way around. The weather was quite warm too so in the bush with no air circulating, it was
very hot. I saw at least 1 case of heat stroke – guy rode into Pit Lane, dumped his bike and hit the deck totally exhausted, they called the medical team but he just needed to rest, hydrate, and cool down.I agree with Spac and all the riders were well mannered. As a social rider I rode every lap at a very relaxed pace and pulled over any time I heard bikes behind me. Had Luka Bussa lap me, rofl. But I did stop for a piss and also to help an Ironman rider stuck on a hill. It is truly amazing to see how fast the good riders can go in the bush!! ^clap
Perhaps the professional teams that entered shouldnt have been awarded the event, after all it wasnt a race we kept being told. Those guys definately deserved mention and recognition, but I thought the idea was to stage an event for the punters, novice to experienced. And I though everyone that finished the 12 hrs should’ve got something as well … Dunno, my 2c.
Met up with Hatto and some of his nowra mates, also caught up with Rod and Mal from the Nth Coast from Full Tilt Jousting.
All in all an enjoyable, if not exhausting, weekend. Special thanks to my team-mates – Alison, Ben and Wayne ( did a big share of the riding)
We arrive early
Our Camp

Cheers.Any other OBT riders we need to look out for ?
We hope to arrive mid morning Saturday, setup camp and catch up with other riders etc.
Thank GOd Im not doing the Prologue lap – our gun ring in rider is doing it.Our team is jinxed,
3 riders injured in the weeks leading up to this.
2 have had to be replaced as injuries were too severe. 1 of the replacements injured last week, but should be ok for a few laps.
Rain forecast all week end.
 :silly: :pinch:
Have a good one Kat.
Cheers !
A bit of the video I took on the day.
Agree Cathi, Its cool Hatto,
Im not bagging anyone out, just saying what I did.
If we’d done that hard stuff at the start of the day we may have handled it better, being fresh and all.
I guess ppl will always rate rides differently, but thats why we use a Grade system too.And yes Im pleased I got thru ( with help ) …. another noob thru Devils Playground, that’ll piss TC off no end …” Make em harder, ya big girl TC”
4Skin,
Think that was in the original plan but due to time ( 1 flat, 1 drowned ) we skipped it.
roflmao Tramo
Guess I cant laugh too much, as I struggled too.
It was probably the hardest, most technical 3 12 hrs hours of riding I have ever done, and given the choice of doing that kind of ride or the easy way home, I wouldve opted for the easier ride.
They said it would be grade 3, was easily grade 4 or 4+That type of grade will take a few years to get good at, you dont just turn up and take it on.
Wazzup,
Wheres the rest of your write-up …. the after lunch ride home ?
Tramo,
From Wollongong to meet place would take us about 1hr .15min, so it may be 3hrs for you.
We will be coming up from Sussex Inlet, taking BTU rd up to Albatross Air base, then into Braidwood rd for about 3 kms to Technology park.
