My 2010 450exc is exactly the same as your 400 by the sounds.
Hard to start in gear ( but can ), hard to push when not in neutral.
I also find it hard to find neutral ( no neutral indicator ) and can flick between 1st and 2nd a few times before finding it.Good luck and God speed, thats one helluva trip…..would love to do something like that one day.
Its been fun riding with you Kat, stay safe, take lotsa pics and vids, txt regularly. When the going gets tough, remember where you are, sure beats the office !
Cheers.

Thanks for taking the time to post.
Cheers.
Some pics ….
As Cathi said, it was a great spectacle, pity the traffic was horrendous.
Trying to catch a pic when these guys were jumpin was a bit hard too.
The property – set against some hills
Good viewing from the hills
Heaps of people
Mini bike madness
Bushy from City Coast commentates ( red hat )
Might have some video I can post up later.
Cheers.
Nice write up and pics, thanks for sharing.
Cheers.
He did say what went wrong. Some connection somewhere had come loose.
He told Cathi when she picked it up.
And now that info is lost in the blonde hair and Oestrogen !!! ROFL !Yes, we have Interphones !!
Bike was taken to yammy dealer and fixed so no dramas there. Just pissed that it put an end to a weekends riding.
Well TB, thats the thing,
There was battery, plenty of battery, speedo and neutral indicator on when key turned.
But not a peep out of the starter motor. When I came back to the bike, we let it sit a few minutes.
Then I did a quick check over all the electrical stuff I could … checking they were connected … hey presto bike starts.Motor runs fine, Cathi jumps on and rides 3 metres and bike dies again, never to come back to life.
We get back to base and call NRMA …. he comes, but is useless, and doesnt know bikes but checked what he could and confirms battery and fuses all good.
We had no tools on the trail ( naughty I know, bumbag was back at base ), we will take them from now one as need spanners to take seat off to get to Battery on the XT250.
Another one for you Kat …
The guys face says it all …
Quote:How many riders do they get/accept?This year was down a bit from last so I was told. About 290 this year, over 350 last year.
Nice report guys thanks for sharing.
Kat, how did the bike and you handle all the tar on this ride ? All Good ?
Picked it up today and been for a quick blast at some parkland nearby.
Sweet.Bike shop removed rear tail light section, and moved blinkers and rego plate up higher.
Picking up my 2010 450exc in 2 days time – they are the same bike … 530 has slightly bigger discplacement but every other part is identical.
Interested in your findings.
Cheers
Highlight is 3:58, much better than 2:10
