    TB,
you say you never needed to touch your xr250.
Did the 280 require more maintenance that you put down to the increased capacity?
    regards

Its my understanding there is no difference at the cylinder / piston level.

    in reply to: Boring #204275

    Mick,
I can get a piston and installation kit to my house for a little over $200 (incl shipping).
At that rate there is no over investment.
I cant fit it myself so I am trying to get a handle on the costs including boring the cylinder.
Probably should have bought an xr400. Probably should have bought a wr450.
But I’ve bonded with the xr250 now and intend to get the most out of the heavy lump.

    So, not XRsonly or ProCycle?

Mechanic determined there was enough thread left in the crankcase to hold the top sprocket cover bolt.
With the help of a spacer and $160 later all is good.
    Whew!

Mick, I’ll look into the case saver, sounds like it might work.

Later: I see what you mean about the case saver. I will probably go with one when I can find the right one to order.

Anyone have recomendations for wreckers or second hand Honda parts in Aus?

Bike is with mechanic so no photos at the moment.

I was sizing up chain to fit, got distracted so “temporarily” fitted clip.

And of course I forgot it was only fitted temporarily.

Made a little less than 100 metres.

The “nut” on the left hand side is welded onto the axle.
The nut with the spanner was trying to tighten it when I should have been on the right hand side.

    Drama over!

If it comes to it, I’ll ring them tomorrow, explain why I should get their address, then email them.
Otherwise I’ll make my way to a fax at some inconvenience.
After they’ve got the document, then I talk on the phone.
Hard copy man – sometimes its necessary!

……..later – got it on DBW

    in reply to: Ballards #203220

Thanks fellas esp Scotty. I dont want to order.
I want to send them a document, just like a fax, cept I dont have one,
and I am on the internet, and I’m just missing an email address.
Can any body out there help me?
I am a customer and it does relate to a particular past sale!
