How does that work ? You could use his bike to cook the snags :cheer:
As consumers we have the right to choose where we spend our money. For me customer service is very important if the salesperson is not interested in making a sale then I will go elsewhere the internet has changed the way consumers shop and all types of industries must adjust to there market.Asia is taking Aussie jobs away and technology is doing away with trade skills ect as a whole people will buy what they want or need regardless where it is made if its the right price then a sale will be made I use to work for an aussie company OPSM now we are owned by the French and the Italians and the work is being outsourced to Thailand .I will be looking for a job soon because of this.We can’t compete with big companies wanting more profits for the share holders. They tell us everyday we must make more for less.I have to think what can I do other than make spectacles I was thinking a motorcycle sales job would be great but it looks like everyone in the retail industry is suffering too. Ohwell we will just have to plod along and try to be positive as long we can breath and ride bikes I will be happy
I think it depends on the type of parts you are buying and its always good to compare prices as a ebay shopper I have been happy sofar with the bits that I have purchased but I will buy some tyres from suttos I promise I will

Quote:Thanks everyone for the replies, some good thing to work on here. Finally got a chance to clean bike yesterday arvo, take bashplate off and find a rock, this may have been the noise because when riding after a wash, no noise was evident “Doh”
cheers Hatto
HA HA   I had to laugh when I read this after all the technical gurus rack there brains out thinking it was a major issue and it turns out to be a bloody rock. At least you don’t have to worry about it now. I remember the sound of the xr when I put on the bashplate it made the noise bounce back from the crankcase
Wow TB I did not realise how much stuff you have changed from original and I like the bag set up.My question is what tyres should I buy for my NX as it is only used on the road I want something nice and smooth for the tar.You should be happy with the perelli M21 I still have one on the front on the XR and they last a while the dunlop are softer and wear quick.
What about the petrol you are using? could it be crook fuel making it knock or ping? or am I way off? I always put in the premium unleaded stuff
Iam so sorry to hear about your dog menace and as for your ride well sometimes it just happens to turn out bad at least you got out there and had a go
Check out the http://www.manheimfowels.com.au they auction off drz’s every few months sometimes they are in good nick and they all have rego
You need to keep all that stuff out of sight so the crooks won’t be tempted when we park the car in Cabramatta we don’t leave anything of value to be seen no change no bags nothing this stops the junkies from smashing your window it does happen from time to time but you can avoid it by not leaving valuables in sight. When we go for a ride we lockup and chain the bike trailer to the car so they can’t pinch the trailer
Its not that bad here plus all my little asian neighbours are too small to lift a leg over the xr so I think its safe
Its the same as Jetski’s nobody likes jetskis the fisherman the surfers and anyone with a boat but after a while you just take up the attitude who gives a rats if they don’t like you people don’t like to see others having fun and if its a reving 2stroke than its the noise they are making
Lets hope all the gear is returned to the original owners.I did not realise how many bikes get pinched don’t people lock up ther gear? My bikes are dynabolted to the concrete floor with the kryptonite cable lock set up its very hard to cut it with bolt cutters.
When we use to ride at Appin we would see the coppers sometimes we always stopped to talk to them lastime was on newyears day it was stinking hot and they looked like they were buggered from the heat the sergant asked where we were going too and if we knew the other blokes getting around on unregoed bikes they have a job to do and all I could think of is what a job getting paid to ride a trailbike and chase ratbags. Before that we had seen the cops in the polair chopper and a ute and they rounded up everyone we had finished ridding that day and we were putting our bikes on the trailer they checked rego and it was all good except for some young kid on a kx125 he got a summons to go to court I think his fine was more than what the bike was worth
If you look at the big picture the Honda XR is a legendary machine that has been around since the 70s so how many of the whizz bang machines will be going in another decade or two? If I was going to replace my trusty xr400 or the smick NX650 It would be another Honda and it would have to be the Xr650 beast of all dirt bikes. You might think that I only like hondas but thats not the case the only other bike that would be as durable as an xr would be the old yami tt or xt range the modern 4banger has a lot of great gizmos but will they be still going in ten or more years you spend a lot of time and $$$$ to keep them going when you own xr you can spend your coin on accessories instead. How many xr owners out there have to check valve clearances or replace shims every few months or rides the only feedback that i get about my bikes is how reliable the Hondas are and pretty much hassel free. I better go and change the oil and clean the filters
As a motorcycle rider we are frowned upon even when you ride a registered bike and have a licence we pay a shitload in nsw to ride a bike and yet we are still loosing places to ride people don’t like us because we make noise and destroy the native fauna I ride when i can and its a big day by the time i get to a place to ride i have to travel an hour or more just to find a place to ride its all fun until some greenie starts to tell you what you can and can’t do we are like an endangered species we will surely fade away if we don’t change our ways how do we change the publics perception of bike riders? We must blame ourselves first it will end up in the Too hard basket. I use to ride out near Appin now they locked it up with gates and metal cables so the 4wd cowboys just broke it down are we always at fault or do the 4wd brigade have something to answer for too?I like the bush just as much as all the others who use it Mountain bikers, bushwalkers horse riders ect but knowone is complaing about them.Is it the noise factor or the idiot on the bike behaving badly
