Its an old page but I did find this. Click on sizes

TB
A few guys at work are going to Cape York & are looking for a suitable tyre, I’ve read a bit & it seems for the lower price of the T63 you don’t get the longevity of the Desert. For a similar price the 606’s last longer

I think Krusty spoke with Mal and they were talking Bridgestone and ED78’s on the rear. I have run a ED78 on the 650 before
TB
We ran ED78’s on the WR’s at Finke, we pre ran approx 150k’s, Down & back 450k’s then badbowie did Hattah on the same rear another 200k’s & they’ve hardly worn
They only come in one size 120/100-18 & they are a big heavy tyre.
Got a couple of new ED78’s left over if any one wants one at a good price.
Was also reading on ADV there are no Deserts available at the moment

Quote:whats wrong with 98 pulp .
my kato loves the shell stuff runs nice and clean but does not like the bp stuff makes it hard to start .don t run it in the kids two strokes fouls the plugs butI don’t know how there is a difference, they are 1 & the same, although they are called Ultimate & V Power
The fancy PULPS have additives that make the fuel denser etc, which means your bike with a carby really needs to be jetted for the fuel you are using, They are designed for fuel injected cars that can adjust fuel/air ratios on the run to maximise their efficiency.
I’m happy with 95PULP whatever the brand, plain straight liquid hydrocarbon with no fancy additives. It does have a different blend spec depending on the time of the year & EPA requirements. Ie: in winter it will have lighter hydrocarbons like butanes blended, whereas summer these aren’t blended for environmental reasons as well they will boil off & give vapour locks etc.
When I filled the jerry cans at Condo for Yellow Mountain the nozzle iced up, high butane content for winter

i’ll buy a drum off you at $2.50 a liter
by my calculations it’s $3.25/L
you can get 98 PULP at some servos now :side:
I know what you can get, the problem is do you want what they put in the 98 PULP.
I prefer not, that stuff is not designed for carburetored engines
$2.50 a litre! think i’ll keep using PULP 95,
Don’t think I’d notice the difference other than in my wallet.
Amazing what makes a piece of road a blackspot
Mitchell H’way Dubbo 5 accidents 1 fatal 5 injured
Bruxner H’way Lismore 138 accidents 5 fatal 65 injured
Back Marsden Rd Forbes 3 accidents 2 fatal 1 injured
Seems when someone is unlucky enough to lose their life the road is a blackspot.
Some of the roads are in need of upgrade, maybe this is how they can pay to fix the roads.

Chris………..Im not more than a weekend warrior myself, just have a list of races I want to do & tick off the list. With my recent races I’ve had the chance to crash test a few items. Hopefully that is over now
Most Marine Grease is good, stay away from the clay based (cream coloured) ones. Most are a translucent colour blue or red.
Some people I’ve heard use an EP grease like Alvania SDX2, my experience with earthmoving equipment is this stuff sticks like shit & doesn’t wash out, a little goes a long way & I’d hate to be washing needle rollers out before repacking.
I’ll stick to ShellMarine or Nulon

Like I said in an earlier post, I don’t find a lot of difference between any of the Intermediate MX tyres. I haven’t run them all however I’ve tried most.
I run my tyres out till there is nothing left on the rear & the side knobs are worn off the fronts, I guess this is the reason why I’m not critical of a tyre.
I’ve even run a Duro rear. On a Coffs to Stuarts Point ride. I was the one struggling the least on most of the hills. I rated it ok except it couldn’t handle transport on bitumen.
I’ve even got a 120/100 ED12 on the bike at the moment, for a big tyre I can’t even tell it’s there compared to a lighter MX tyre.
Like I said for $100 an MC5 is a great tyre & if I was buying at retail I’d be buying them or something else that was available for $100.
If the tyre was to last only one or two rides or it was muddy I’d buy a Duro for $78.
I ran one twelve months ago & for $100 they are as good as any other tyre when new. Did a 3 hour club enduro in rocky terrain & it survived, I’ve run a few other tyres & I wouldn’t rate it any higher or lower than the others. If I didn’t get Bridgestones cheap I’d be running them myself
We’ve back to backed an M404 & a Gritty ED12 with no real difference, possibly around Sunny Corner the Gritty has the edge on longevity.
Someone at Yellow Mountain on a 250 2t near shreded an MC5 on the way up to Tottenham last year.

Quote:Hi All
I need some feedback here guy/gals about this ride.(now before anyone takes offence, I am just after feedback/answers)I’m having a hard time with this situation
We have posted up a ride for the high country looking for expressions of interest, we get alot of positive feedback with 35-40 replies (count me in/extremely keen)
So we organise it, and now we only have 13 replies total(both for and against)so I am trying to find out why.
Is it the distance that you have to travel for the ride ??? No we drove to Alice Springs for 7 hours of riding & Mildura for what was meant to be 4hours so the Snowies is no problem
Is it the cost of the ride ???As badbowie said the entry for Finke is more than this ride alone without factoring in the damge to my bike & riding gear from both
Is it the weekend availability ???Would have been, I’m lucky enough to be on holidays & will arange the rest of my holidays around this ride if it goes ahead
Is it because it’s a tour company (or specific tour company)???Tour company is a definite plus, means we will ride the best there is & hopefully not ride in circles finding our way at a reasonable pace
Don’t think there are any negatives surrounding this ride, it’s an opportunity for people that can’t get a group together on their own to do some awesome riding.
Is there any chance Heffo has a small group that may be happy to fill the balance of numbers
We need six more to put their hand up or it may not happen again, remember for a lot of the year this stuff is not accessable
We want some discussion on this, because if we don’t know the reasons behind, than we can’t address in the future.
A lot of time and effort goes into organising these things, and on this one we have tentative bookings for accom, meals etc, because we thought we would easily get the numbers based on the responses received, now it looks like it’s not going to happen and I hate leading people along and then cancelling out.
So please tell me your thoughts(good bad whatever) again it’s not having a go at anybody, we just don’t want to make the same mistakes when organising again in the future.
Don’t be shy, be truthful
cheers hatto

I tried Pivot Pegs on a few single trail rides & found as I became fatigued i couldn’t stop from rolling on them ie, going up a hill felt like I was going to fall off the bike & going downhill rolled onto the rear brake,
They were great when I was fresh, we just ride till we are rooted & this is where the problem was.
I tried them pre running Finke this year & they were a contradiction to the StegPegz so as I loaded weight onto my calf the pegs rolled forward, so I took them off & went back to my standard pegs.
Ran standard pegs for my short Hattah experience & now doubt I’ll be putting them back on the WR, even with my size 13 feet I’ve found a good pair of boots with a flexible ankle are better than Pivot Pegs.
Seems 99% of people like them & I’m the 1% that doesn’t
Do you think the pegz benefit certain types of riding, like single track and hills , but are not so good on long desert rides??
I have never ridden desert dunes but plan to soon, so if pivot pegz aren’t ideal for this it would be good to know, I could then change back to standard for this type of riding.Anyone else had this experiance??
I can’t comment on how other people ride, although I have been on a few OB rides & found them very relaxed. If I’d been riding with Pivot pegs I’d possibly not even noticed they were fitted.
3.5 hours @ Finke is harder than any 4 hour trailride I’ve done & harder than Yellow Mountain & Condo 750 09 which were two long days & we covered 800km
The reason they didn’t suit me personally at Finke was that I was trying to lock my legs in on Steg Pegz to ease the load on my upper body, so I couldn’t see the point of having a pivoting foot & lower leg when i was using Steg Pegz to minimise the same & it seemed it would only introduce more fatigue into the situation.
To be honest when i first fitted them I initially couldn’t tell they were fitted.
As stated I’m the 1% that doesn’t like them & personally I don’t see they advantage of them.(i wear Gaerne boots which allow me to achieve similar through flexibiltity of the boot)
Luckily i bought them through a group buy, didn’t pay retail.
Maybe I’ll keep them & fit them to my bike when I sell it & keep the originals as spares.
Only way you’ll know if they suit will be to buy a set or try someones bike fitted with them.
Personally a new set of tyres is money better spent

ps tb….crash is fine
There is an enduro in Sept out at Milby south of Condo, approx 20k loop, some of the loop is from 09 Condo 750 with other sections of off camber tree rooted creek banks, winding farm tracks, single trail, rock hills, flat out fence lines & a few fence jumps thrown in.
I did ironman (3hours). If you missed out on YM, this is a must do enduro as the terrain & riding replicates YM, managed 10 loops in the 3 hours so it is fast like YM.
We were on the road between Rankin Springs & Goolgowi with no NextG coverage then miracuously @ 13.05 we had coverage, a couple of refreshes of the screen & the Nominations were up, I did mine whilst we were travelling, then badbowie pulled up, I handed the laptop over & he did his, all done before 13.10.
Prologue was in fog with an extremely slippery track so I took my time after the big crash at Finke.
I was taken out from behind on a straight section on the first lap by a pro rider riding pony express, as they started behind ironman they caught us about half way around the first lap.
He blamed someone else for hitting him, I know it was only me & him with badbowie 50meters back.
Badbowie came over the crest to see me pinned under the bike, stopped lifted my bike & then carried on.
Any way my ribs aren’t fully healed & this irritated them as well as a few other parts of my body. Neck is sore as hell. Need another new helmet, as I trashed another FoxV3.
The sand over there is hard to ride in, the conditions were good (wet) no dust. Give me rocks & single track anyday.
Next race is something I will enjoy, Yellow Mountain….
