Eurotred ( Bridgestone) are the distribiutor, don’t know if they are related.

If you are after a cheap rear. For $79, Ballards sell a “DURO”, made by one of the big manufacturers.

Ran one on my old WR450 before I sold it, did a big ride at Coffs on it & was told that by the time I reach Belingen I’ll wish I didn’t have it. Was totally the opposite it was the tyre to have in the wet conditions.

Then ran it for a couple of rides at Clarence & it held up ok

    Nice bling guys.

Haven’t heard of TM designs before but they certainly look the part.

    Got much more to do?

A picture says a thousand words

Lunchtime today it looked like this

It’s not really that bad! Just need to put the Rear shock & Swingarm back after repacking all the needle rollers.

Forks are in, had a service & valving upgrade.

Either way, the fork springs I received are NOT numbered “FRSP” anything, and are too short for the job. So one way or the other that was stuffed up.

I think I will set the sag on the rear and give it a go, and get Mick to put the 0.47 springs from his forks into mine along with the T-Valve kit. Then send the incorrect spring back and see if I works at that. :S

As I found out last week, if your mate is putting a Tvalve kit in, how old is it? & was it from Teknik? as they have upgraded their valving this year, It is meant to make a world of difference, I’m yet to find out as my bike is still spread over the workshop

From an Old Bulls sponsors web site

    http://www.teknikracing.com/teknikal-library/setup-guides/236-fact-sheet-yamaha-wr250f

If you look at the setup guide your previous reply is not making a lot of sense.

You now have Forks .46 & Shock 5.6

    & you say you need…..

    Forks .48 & shock 5.2 doesn’t make sense

    Above link says

    80-90kg Forks .46 & shock 5.6

    90-100kg Forks .48 & shock 5.8

Now I’m no expert & stuck in my own dilema at the moment with my 450, I’d tend to follow the Teknik info. As i’m around the mid 90kg in gear thinking I need heavier than standard Springs in my bike, Nick has assured me with his updated valving & stock springs I’ll be ok, I’ve bought heavier fork springs in case I need them all though I was encouraged not to,

I’d been running a Tvalve kit & older valving set up for 8 months & just had my forks serviced & updated, I’m also running 5mm preload

If you were happy with your forks as they were, you’d be stoked with them if they’d been via Teknik’s w/shop

My riding level would be average trail rider, 30th Condo 750 2008 (Greg Elliot 29th) & Yellow Mountain 2009 40th outright. And it is my fitness not my suspension holding me back.

Thanks for that mate, still need to get a pink slip or probably a blue slip in my case that is why I want a trailer

    Ollie

Customer Declaration ie: A Stat Dec will sort that out for you

    So you don’t need a Pink/Blue slip

Mal no problems with pistons in WR’s. If I was only trailriding I wouldn’t contemplate changing, was after last year flogging I gave it I decided to get in ahead of this years flogging.

There was no wear, & the bore was like new, hopefully cheap insurance.

badbowies bike was only trailriden last year due to his big ADV ride to Finke http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=482329 & was out for a couple of months due to injury, so his bike has done less work than mine

The bike went back together for a quick run then a strip down to sort the suspension, grease the swingarm & linkages & fit some TM Designworks Bling.

Hopefully it will be back together by the end of the week, with only normal maintenance before heading off for Finke

Will post more photos later as I’m away from home this week

Bike prep has started as we are approx 6 weeks away from Finke.

Followed closely by Hattah, Then Yellow Mountain as well as a couple of Club Enduros & possibly The Holbrook 6 hour

My 09 WR450 is just over 12 months old & approx 3500kms on it, mostly singles although it has done a couple of club enduros & Yellow Mountain & an enduro that replicated YM although only 3 hours managed 10 20km loops in this time.

So the WR has been held wide open a fair bit.

When it was new it had the headset bearings greased as Yamaha do a half hearted job. 12 months on the top bearing is pitted & a terrible brown colour so it’s been replaced

Then onto the top end, New piston & rings

    Deglaze of the bore

    New & old

    Fiited to Crankcase

Checking Valve Clearances All good haven’t moved yet (must be looking after my air filters)

    Hi Boulder,

Good to hear you are happy with the TK pipe on your Suzuki, I tend to think that his products are not as popular because everybody seems to go for the name brands but they are a top quality product, extremely well made and he can tune it to your liking  a lot of people don’t know it but he also makes all the GYTR Yamaha exhausts for road and off-road :woohoo: and he is a local bloke to where I live ;)

I read somewhere recently DRD are making the offroad pipes for yamaha, maybe only the 2010 YZ450, although hes making them they are not the same as his own branded gear.

Anyway I use a Barrett, Local, Totally rebuildabe, good alll round muffler

    Suspension…… So many different opinions.

Anyway my 09 WR450F has a Teknik T valve kit in it, Standard .46 Springs & from memory 10mm of preload.

I spoke to Nick at Teknik when making my decision. I’m 90+kg in gear possibly closer to 100kg,& run a 13.5l Clarke Tank & was advised to stay with the standard .46 springs & not go to .48’s. It’s easy to change springs if I wasn’t happy. Will be taking a set to Finke though

Sure my bike will bottom if I ride motocross, however I mainly ride Singles. badbowie kept his stock for a while and if we swapped bikes his was plain scary with stock forks.

This setup took me to 40th outright at last years Yellow Mountain, so I guess it must be a reasonably good setup

Teknik have some good info on their site about the shortcomings of the standard forks, worth a read

After fitting mine up & riding yesterday I’m not all for them. Day started ok with no real noticeable difference. As fatigue set in I found it took a lot more effort to stay in place.

They are grippier than standard WR pegs so I found moving around on them more difficult than normal.

I also wear Gaerne boots, so even with a big foot I find it easy to select gears etc

    Mine will be removed soon,

I might try them with my Stegpegz although this contradicts the design

Rode my bike with the Pivotpegz again yesterday.

Was a shorter ride 70k’s of Single trail with better conditions, can’t say whether they are a positive or negative, although I’m happier with them after this ride than the previous.

Will try them again next ride.

Should have most of the spares we’ll need.

Will update as the bike builds progress as we get closer to Finke
