That’s why i’m here.. I’m the red headed step-child,class clown over on TT.
When i’m riding hard i’m as serious as a prostitute on over-time. But this is the internet…It’s all good!micknmeld wrote:

No Lurking mate, I am a well respected long term Member over there, with half a tank of GAS, which isn’t given out lightly.
I mainly haunt the XR600 and mini bike sections though.Oh,didn’t they tell ya..? gas is a bad thing, just ask porterzcustom (or better known as PC,on TT)
This is kinda fun… I post up something while you’all are asleep and the next morning i get to read the caous and ramblins’.
That picture was from a magazine interview,I think it was ‘Dirt Bike”,and it told how he could pick it up.A lot was technique but most of it was the fact he’s a BIG dude!
Dad always said…You have to be able to pick it up after you tip over, before you can ride it. He didn’t say lift it over your HEAD!
No really…,Scott Summers was THE MAN! Nothing light about that bike!

Quote:Thanks Scalejockey appreciate the story, couple of things there I don’t have and would like the temperature dipstick, and the oil sight tube. I have been looking at an oil sight tube from BARNUMSPRO.How did you make yours, do you have any pics or pointers?
TB
Mine looks just like that one but is a lot shorter,it stops before the steering stop. I went to the hardware store for the all the fittings (REALLY cheap).I already had the 14″(?).Pipe tap.
I had a little problem drilling the bottom hole,i ran into some kind of cross bracing inside. You can see it when you have the oil drained.
I tried to drill and tap mine without removing the strainer on the bottom, but some metal did get inside and ended up needing to flush it out anyways.I know you can get a kit,but the real price of the parts is only 6 or 7(?) dollars.
I’ll post a pic latter..Here’s mine..
As you can see the oil drains down and is not visable until a few minutes of running. Here’s a run that the 650 did this year.I’m not the one on the bike,it’s my nefew. He said it shot out of the hole like a rocket and he wasn’t ready. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KIGhtzW86o
He does better on the second run..

It would of been a problem with a “stock” head, but that’s been taken care of

Quote:Whoa what a mean machine!!! is that an XS650 motor in a YZ chassis??It was a custom made frame from scatch.Very$$$$ It kinda looks like a oversized KX parimiter frame. When the shot of nitros hits at half throttle you better cover your ears!
Hear is an old pic of the street tracker.I sold it in 02(?)
Took 4 years to build.
The 650 i just finished took about a month.
Life is a little more relaxed nowB) I WAS married with a house,2 young kids and a wife that didn’t work (ever).
Now i’m taking some time off (a year or so)with a new wife that works a very good job,my kids are grown now.Besides I have to recover from knee surgery this last month.[read:drink beer and play on web sites:PMoto wrote:
Quote:Is that an XS650 thing though or just the price you pay for having next to no seat padding? The original seat (and bars) work ok enough to rid the vibes. But if you use that motor for anything other than stock chassis,YOW!
Here’s a highly modded hill climber that i did some work on,I shakes so bad at the super high Rs. you can’t hold on. (besides being nitro burning scary fast)
Ther’e fun to build. I did a street tracker a few years back. The only problem with XS motor,if you go to a thin seat yer arse won’t like the vibs for more than a quick trip.:woohoo:
Sometimes i’d rather have skunks..the little bastards!
The beast! with lots of mods. And when i’m feeling young and stupid i ride the 125.
My “kids”.. one is Aussie(Sophie) the black one is (Tilly)Boarder collie.
This is the latest find,I had one in High school. This one i’m just about done restoring.Just a seat cover and finish the side panels.
Going to get this photo thing down yet! -
