Next time mate.Part 2
As we headed for Mt Ovens, we took the bikes for a dip in a shallow creek to wash off some dust then hit the sweet singles through the natural bush. With L4DR’s foot becoming an issue we cut out a rough gnarly fire trail hill and ran the fire trail which was ample opportunity to open the bikes up and cool off the riders.
The view from Mt Ovens is always a good one, as you look down upon Bathurst and its surrounding districts; with people going about their day, whilst we were out roosting the forest.
The course was set to head for base camp with more flowing natural singles giving way to sandy pine singles which were dispatched in short order with the as good as ever A4DE singles utilised to practice ones special test riding ability or lack of.
Medog ran this in the 4D so he led out and set a cracking pace for L4DR and I to follow. Dust from the big 570 kept L4DR back as he is still coming to grips with riding singles and rode within his limits and pain factor.
The Prison Run was new to Medog, so he led out again, with me showing him the log stack option at the midpoint. L4DR was happy just to get through to the end of the day. A double set of log jumps had Medog excited especially as it has a step down immediately following.
Over to Loam Town for some WOT action or Thumper Nats style action as L4DR called it, with the 450 showing the fast lines to the 570. With sweet 3rd gear corners and some 4th gear straights it was on. It was at the mid-section where the 570 had the green light to get in front to find the way.
Medog had the red mist descend over his Scott goggles and I had my work cut out for me and the KTM just to stay with his 570 in the fast section. I had to physc him out by woohooing at him into a hairpin turn and diving down the inside to push him wide. Fearing his other knee would need a reco if he held the line; Medog checked up and watched the orange blur blow past and go way deep into the corner. This gave Medog his window for the next uphill blast and tickled the twist grip which saw a drag race between the motorcycle branded cousins. Both of us held it on where others would have shut off, the bikes bucked from the acceleration bumps and lifted front wheels, with my track knowledge coming through with Medog, uncertain as to what lay over the other side of the crest, buckled under the pressure, or the loam sandwich the 450 dished up to him.Once at the end the smiles were enough to know it is a track well made.
Thanks L4DR for top ride. Hope the foot heals quickly.
Medog, as always, it is great witnessing your fine riding skills.Galey

MartyMonster and I rode it with a mate weeks ago. L4DR got to the pine tree on the right where the other rider is hiding from the big 450’s, then restarted nicely. Medog didn’t get that far on his girls attempt.

Hey Goccy. All the best for your birthday. If you were riding today I bet you wish you were taking on The Maddening. After all you helped give it the name.
