STM for the price I’m happy with it. I will play with the setting and try on my moto. My MTB helmet is not the most stable base as it move around a bit. I think some of the lens flare from the sun may also be caused by the protective cover. I will give it a run without the cover and see.

Just playing with it now, the Wifi aspect is cool. I am watching the videos back on my iphone via the Wifi, :)

The waterproof cover is not available yet which is a bummer as I will be doing some snorkelling over the coming weeks and it would have been good to test out.

Ok I ordered one of these from the link Krusty posted (Thanks Krusty). Certainly cheap enough. I tested it out yesterday on my MTB on some local singles. When I uploaded to Youtube I did the shake reduction thing and I’m not sure if thats a good thing as it does some funny things to the image. Recorded in 720.

Seems ok but the camera seemed to struggle with the contrasting sunlight coming through the trees.

This was a grade 4 hill climb before the trail cutter lads cleaned it up, as well as a few other areas. Nice blokes.
Hook up with Mal5.1 and get the best singles sorted Scotty. Sweet pics.

Funny you should mention the trail cutter lads. I run into a group of guys out there who said they had done some work on the trail including fixing some of the creek crossings. They said they where there cutting in some new singles, :)

New brake pads on the RMX and bought some new tyres but too lazy to fit them. Think I might take it out tomorrow and give the old tyres one last run.

Would love to have a ride on one!

Current KTM250SX 2T makes 49.77HP :woohoo: :woohoo: . F#%ked if I know which ones is quicker around a track (I don’t race anyway) but I know which one would give me the biggest woody, :)

There is a push in the US to allow 250 2T to race with the 250 4T. This is obviously being blocked by the big Jap 4. By the look of the below article its already happening at a club level over there. Intersting read.

Small market overall TB but I from what I remember the YZ400F was developed as a direct response to the Californian law change. At the time the Japanese took the Californian market very seriously as what sells there will have an influence on other markets. Wanabe’s all round the would vidoes of freestylers at Glammis and run out and buy what they rode, hence the reason MX bikes are such big sellers.

PS, is 8% overall motorcycle sale or offroad bike sales? if overall the scooter markets in asia will easily be the biggest.

Emission laws in California (The biggest dirt bike market in the world) outlawed 2T. This meant the manufacturers had to change tack to sell bikes in this huge market and the rest of us got dragged along for the 4T ride.

in reply to: ELECTRIC bikes you say ?????????? #228057

Boony you might be surprised how long some of these bikes will run for. If you look at your average ride days you might be shocked at how short your actual ride time is. I’m not talking about how long you where out for but how long you actual rode in between stopping to talk shit, helping others through technical stuff, having lunch and waiting for KTM riders to catch up.

It won’t be long before these will easily do a days riding on one charge.

Awesome project, should be able to piece together one good one from the two. If you are chasing parts I come across a wrecker down here in Londondery that specialise in old bikes and had quite a few IT’s, PE’s, XT’s, XL and the like. They have a massive indoor warehouse that is well set out. I wandered around the place just checking shit out for hours. I had photo’s but can’t find them. Website here http://www.oldgoldmotorcycles.com.au

Are you gonna do some viduros on it when its done Moto?

in reply to: ELECTRIC bikes you say ?????????? #228055

I am looking forward to electric bikes. When they get to the stage where I can get 4+ hours ride time I’m on board. The KTM freeride is setting the standard at the moment.

As for legalities as it stands at the moments if the motor makes over 200 watts it need registration. To put this in perspective a Ryobi 32cc wiper sniper makes around 1000 watts.

in reply to: Husky developing DI 2T ? #227858

Maybe something like this. The key could be how little oil is actually required to lubricate a 2T. At present with premix a lot of the oil is wasted. (The techy bit starts at about 1.20)
