Get them pics up ASAP Gazza, I’d love to see the old PE out there smoking up the trails.

I’ll throw in a plug for some site sponsors. I see your up the mid north coast. Maybe give Rock Motorcycles a call, tell him your an Oldbull and see if he can do ya a deal. You could even look at the Suttos website http://www.suttosmc.com.au I see they have the M2R’s that LC speaks of starting well under 2 hungy. Most shops will have some old model lines they want to move on cheap to stock the latest greatest models. At this stage I think anything will be safer the a 14 year old lid.

1998 holy shit. Im not surprised it is falling apart. As for crash damage I think the manufacturers will tell you if its had a hit it should be tested at the very least. If we did this with our off road helmets i would be getting mine tested a few times a year and I don’t even know who or where to get them tested.

I pull mine apart and make sure everything looks ok regularly and replace them every couple years. I believe they have an expiry date of something like 5 years. Best to be safe then sorry.

I currently have a one industries Kombat which is due for replacing and has a few scares on it. Ive been happy with it but not sure what i’ll get next. I usually go to the shop and try a few on then see what deals I can get.

Hi Burns1,,,Welcome to OBT. I also like to get out for on a week day, also ride an RMX,also out of action atm, compliments of the old RMX. I still like it though  :cheer: But will be looking to update asap.
    Cheers Teza

Don’t go soft on us Teza and get one of those asthmatic 250 4 strokes. I recon a Gaser of KTM 300 would be right up your alley. :woohoo:

Yeah that’s not the standard headlight and the speedo is in a box in the shed somewhere. I have just fitted a BRP top triple clamp and have ordered an FMF pipe and silencer for it. As I was saying I originally bought it as a reintroduction to 2 stroke with the plan of updating if I liked it. I like it so much I’m gunna keep it and do some more work to it. Next will be some suspension work. I fitted heavier springs but think the forks would benefit from a revalve.

I was looking to do a ride up Clarence on the 16/7 but will give it another week to see how my knee is before I lock it in.

Nothing wrong with the old RMX burns. They can hold their own against more modern machinery. I bought mine with the plan to update to a later model2 stroke but at the moment Im happy riding the RMX.

I will be off the bike of a couple weeks resting my knee after a little mishap last week but keep a lookout for some midweek ride posted soon.

Welcome aboard Burns1. Due to my employment most of my riding is done midweek. I prefer midweek rides anyway, you get the trails to yourself without the weekend warriors.

    What do you ride?

Enjoy the GP. I’m stuck at work.

Another good day even with the dodgy weather. Some familiar trails and some new ones (or just ones I have forgotten). We went along the power line trail to one of the hills that has become quite chewed up. I was happy to make it to the top once but Galey and 2Banger decided they needed a few goes at the worst section. Made some good entertainment for me when they both eventually had some problems with the slippery muddy slop.

We made our way to Wolgan Valley Rd down a nice single then back up through Blackfellows Cave. I haven’t done the single back up from Blackfellows in this direction before. This meant climbing a bit of a rock face. I had one failed attempt and made it up second go. We headed through the tight single out the back of here. The conditions made for some interesting moments on the slippery roots and rocks. I was still enjoying the conditions until I was caught by one slippery root which then fired me into the base of the tree it came from. I managed to glance off the base of the tree but needed a dab of the foot to stop myself from going down. Instant pain to my right knee. I stayed upright and pulled up with Galey for a minute and the pain subsided.

I pushed on and after a while thought my knee felt fine and began too up the pace again until I needed another little dab of the foot. The pain was back so I backed off and plugged along to the end of the single. Riding along a wet slippery single track afraid to put your foot down is bloody hard. All of a sudden every little root and rock has the potential to cause pain and it seemed they were never ending. I think we went through an area that was recently logged and there was bloody little wet saplings running at angles across the track every where. At the end of the single I called it quits and headed for the car.

Today the knee is sore and a little swollen but I can walk ok so a few weeks and finger crossed all should be well ready of another ride.

    Hey mate,

How often do you go for a ride during the week, in particular on Tuesday. Excuse me ignorance and dropping in but I’m looking to tag along on some riding action and I’m new to the old bull website.

I’m off work 10th of July and I’m edging to get on the bike…

phyxious, Im a shift worker so most of my riding is done midweek. Unfortunately I gave my right knee a bit of a tweak today so I will have to give it a few days before I know if I will be fit for a ride in early July.

in reply to: Chin strap #224951

The open face could have been the reason it came off. Even with a tight chin strap they can rotate forward on the head (a bit like your OB crown) and potentially come off.

You also mentioned she was a largish lady. Large enough that she doesn’t have a chin for the strap to fit under?

in reply to: Chin strap #224946

Good work Bol. Was the helmet a full face or one of those open face units Harley riders like to wear?

tell me more about the diesel heater, i am interested

Look up “choofer” or “smudge pot”. These were very common in panel beating shops to warm up the shop for spray painting in the winter prior to the days of heated spray booths. If ya know an old panel beater or spray painter hit them up.

Because I left so late and knew I’d be coming home in the dark I trailered up. The Husky light sux and it gets very cold up there when the sun goes down. I don’t plan in putting the Husky on the trailer too often, kinda defeats the point.

I love that 2nd photo if only it was a ktm I would have that as my desktop background. :P

Grab ya camera, get out there and start shooting.

That was on a single track out the back of Baal Bone Colliery. Very nice open flowing track with some bermed corners. The big 610 handled quite well on the singles until I got to the bog hole. I couldn’t see how far the bog hole went and I wasn’t keen on dragging a 150kg bike with road trail tyres through a swamp. I’ll take the RMX back out there one day with some decent tyres and see where it goes.
