    Cheers

Yeah I’m pretty happy with it eages. I was almost going to jump on the ADV ride at the birthday but Sunny Corner on the RMX is just too much fun to pass up.

Not much of a ride today. The flu has got a hold of me and I had to take a dog to the airport which took up half the day. Now I’m working over the weekend so I may not get out on the big girl till next week some time. :(

Twobanger that’s what the guy who owned the 610 was after in the first place. I think he was remembering the 610’s of a decade ago when they were more enduro based. He eventually realized his mistake and is now looking at a TE449.

Maybe I will need to update the RMX to match. Nah bugger that it’s still the cheapest and most fun bike I ever bought.

Galey I enjoyed the run at SC and am looking forward to the birthday ride but will probably be in one of the grade 3 loops.

As for price of the big Husky, cost me less than a new DR650 would have. Considering its as good as new and has a few extras Im pretty happy.

Now I need to find some goodies to add to it. I see birthday ride auction has a couple of Barrett pipes listed. I may have to bid on one of those. I loved the Barrett on my DRZ and I know Tiny had one on his 610 which he was happy with.

Galey I’m not sure your dog is a fan of that footy team as he don’t look happy.

Bugger I’ve done a Boony and introduced myself again. Is there some techo, nerdy guru, moderator type person out there that can move this to the appropriate place.

New rear tyre fitted today and I threw in a set of wheel bearings while I was at it. Ready to roll.

Another single track weapon. I have notice a theme on here lately. People are either downsizing and getting ST weapons or there going for full blown desert sleds.

I think Canon rule the market with their compact point and shoots at the moment (I am a Canon shooter so I may be biased). You really can’t go wrong with a Canon compact. The only place Canon fall short is in a water resistant/shock resistant model. They have the Powershot D10 but its specs are very disappointing.

Olympus have ruled this segment of the market for some years now with their Tough series. I have a TG770 which has been great but the kids have given it a good workout in surf, on kayaks, fishing, waterslides and swimming pools so it is now not as waterproof as it once was. Still working but the screen is playing up.

I am off to Fiji in September and along with my trust Canon DSLR I will be the taking the new Nikon AW100 for watersports. I got to use on of these recently and it is a trick piece of kit. When I get it I will get it out the bush and do a review. It has a 16mp CMOS sensor and is shockproof, waterproof to 10m, cold-resistant, has GPS with maps, compass and point of interest. For those into video its also 1080HD. On specs this should make a nice compact bike camera. I can’t say the image quality will make some of the Canon’s but being Nikon I can’t see why it wouldn’t.

They sell for about $350-$400 dollars in Aus but if you prepared to risk oversees without warranty can be had for under $300. Not cheap but certainly reasonable for what you get and around the same as the Olympus Tough range.

It comes in a few colours even orange for you KTM freaks

I will be going for the camo model.

The vids have talked me into it. I have a new tyre in the shed which I was going to leave until the BD ride but I will fit it Saturday ready for the Monday madness. I’M SO EXITED!!! :woohoo:

XY believe it or not the XR650L is still in production. After all these years you can still walk in to a US dealer and ride away on a brand new XR650L. Why Honda are still making these and they dropped the XR650R is anyones guess.

I think if you were happy with old tech style bike though the DR650 would be hard to pass up.

If ya not happy with the gear ratios on the six speed 690 you will hate the DRZ400 it has gear ratios more akin to an MX bike. This is the reason I sold mine, the gear ratios where to much of a compromise.

Out of the more off road capable ADV bikes maybe look at the Husky TE630. It seems to have the widest ratio gearbox out there, certainly wider than the 690 and is in the middle of the range of the single cylinder bikes for weight.
