the 650 may be too much bike for me Scotty,
and how would the WR handle highway runs with gear??, TTR used to struggle uphill a little with gear and my barge arse on it which is why i was looking at the DRZ??Bender, the DRZ400 actually make more HP than the DR650. The 650 has a tad more torque and is geared much better for long highway speeds.
The WR looks like a great little bike with a 6 speed but for a fat arsed Ozzie’s loaded up with camping gear there’s going to be a lot of shuffling through the gears when you hit the hills. The WR is only a couple KG’s lighter than the DRZ with much less HP and half the torque.Bender, by the sounds of it you may even want to have a look at the DR650. Not as cumbersome as the BMW, still pretty capable off road as long as you respect it’s a big trail bike and not an enduro weapon and no radiators for you to stress over.
I have a DRZ400E and I have damaged a radiator but that was whist riding tight, rutted, rocky single track and I didn’t have guards at the time. No issues since fitting guards.
Still the best sound in MX.

I agree and Atherton would have better knowledge of the course. That being said that time was slow for Atherton. At a world cup race he did that same course some 30 seconds faster.
How good can he be, here he gets smoked by a pushy.
I would have been keen for this one myself Krusty but have my daughters netball grand final on Saturday.
EAGLE`02 wrote:nice report, those trails are awsome , I want to ride them again one day
I actually read yor report today while I had smoko at work on my phone (on ADV) :laugh:Cheers
Yeah Eages after typing this up last night the gremlins got into the Old Bull systems and I could not get in (turns out nobody could) so I chucked the report on ADV. TB has finally paid the bill and now Old Bulls is back.

I love the way my CRF450X really gets up and goes, has good suspension and is nearly all the things I wanted in a dirt bike.
However, a motor completly destroying itself within 3 years isnt in my wish list. I have never had any dramas with a Honda engine before (I did have an xr200 do a gearbox but it was a 15 year old farm bike).
I would take a trade off of a few more kg’s in thicker engine cases and a slight performance drop for reliable valves.3 years is not a bad run for a race bike. From what I read in your engine failure thread Jimmy your CRF has seen it’s fair share of hard and fast desert and pony express racing.
I note people are pointing out the DRZ as a reliable trail bike, and it is, but if you were to use the DRZ as a race bike at some of those desert races I doubt you engine would last too long.

Sutto’s had Michelin ultra heavy duties on special recently. I got a couple for the RMX.

Some funny and scary photo’s in there Mick.
Have a look at some of these photos. This bloke traveled down through South America on a three wheel mototaxi. Not quit a dirt bike but an awesome adventure and some stunning photography.

I got a front for my RMX from there a couple weeks back but they had no 18 rears at the time only 19’s.
teza h wrote:So what do we do in that case????Squirt it with yu camel back, then get the f#*k out of the way.
Cheers Teza.Piss on it. For KTM riders there doesn’t need to be flames to take such action with your bikes.
Could have ended like this Husaberg 450
Looks like a someone starting a bomb fire but apparently a Berg is the cause of that smoke. Crashed in grass and stared grass fire.
The end result, BBQ Berg.
Lucky Teza the RMX didn’t end up charcoal.
