in reply to: Fork issues! #180430

Nickj, I have raised mine 5mm in the clamps for faster steering, maybe you could drop your to 5mm to see if this is a good comprimise. If your forks still have standard springs and damping they are most likely diving to much in corners, raising 10mm will make this worse

My forks have been resprung and revalved with Technik T-valves. Best money you will spend on a DRZ. If you want your DRZ to really handle, get the rear done too.

Then Suziki come out with the RMX without ADR.

They really need to talk to each other as they are making the same mistakes

Yeah if Suzuki were to make a RMX style bike with a DRZ motor, or Honda a CRF with the XR400 motor I would be first in line to hand over cash.

Good work Cel & TB Looks like a 2010 model XR400!! Why Honda dont make one with a starter is beyond me they would still go out the door like hot cakes!! Top job boys.

I recon if Honda made this bike with an E start it would outsell the CRF 10 to 1. Heck it might even beat the DRZ as OZ’s number 1 selling bike.

How soft have we become that E start can be a deal breaker when buying a bike.

If it had an electric leg I would consider selling the DRZ and building one of them myself. I would be more than happy to go back to air cooled and say goodbye to stupid radiators.

Another sweet old bull build, nice work guys.

STM I think you’ll find if you wish to ride a horse up Bondi Rd or through Tamarrama there is no law stopping you.

I think even electric bikes are not our salvation, as I have stated down here we even have MTB’s being outlawed (good luck with them enforcing it). The argument is as much about soil erosion as noise and the like.

Personally I think the future for off road riding is going to be in private property style bike parks. By the time this happens I’ll probably be too old to ride but the future generations wont have it as free as we do now.

Like most I have a passionate dislike for unregistered bikes but they are only a small part of the problem. There are registered riders out there who think because they have rego and a licence they can ride and create trails anywhere they like, this includes National Parks and even other peoples private property. I come across such f#ckwits all the time when riding my MTB in some of the pristine National Parks near home.

We all get tared with the same brush, the non rider does not disciminate and most of the time wouldn’t know a registerd bike from an unregistered one.

These are the signs that now meet mountain bikers at trails on council land that have existed for over 20 years. These trails run through 2 local council areas. Only 1 of them has made it an issue but this has made the trails all but useless.

in reply to: Clamp down on UnRegoed bikes #180089

We have just had an issue down here with mountain bike trails that have existed for over 20 years. The local council has since decided these trails are now illegal and are expecting local police to take action against anyone who rides them. Local MTB clubs put forward a plan to make the trails sustainable with no success.

If they want you off the land they will make it happen, with or without rego. If they can stop pushies riding the bush what hope do moto’s have.

Stop your whinging Mick the threads about unregoed bikes ya bonehead :P   The rest is big business its always been like that and always will be ;)

TB it’s not just about unrego bikes, but bikes doing what they consider the wrong thing. That would include riding the single tracks we like so much. These arn’t considered “legal trails” and as such whether your registered or not they want you out of the forest. Life will get boring real quick if we have to stick to the fire roads.

Im still keen TB but will need details as I will need to take leave to be sure not to get screwed by last minute roster changes.

in reply to: How to gear it #179783

13/50, holly crap Boony you must have a top speed of about 80kph. I found 14/47 would climb any thing and if ya want more snap of corners us the clutch more.

I,m currently running 14/44 and still have no problems climbing, yet will do fire trail speeds (100+) with ease.

If I were you I would go back to the 14 on front.
