    Yes it is Boony, I found that amusing too. In all reallity its a pretty good idea for an adventure bike but it just looks like Yamaha have little confidence in it going the distance. No doupt it will but very reliable, the motor has been around for a while and is rock solid.

    Then the next pick would be the KTM690R. At around 140Kg, even with Selena sitting on the KTM it will still be lighter the Tenere.

    Top notch suspension (linkage ;)) and heaps of grunt. Yes it needs a big tank that may look ugly but let face it, adventure bikes are’t about looks. Once saddle bags are fitted they all look like shit.

    209kg single cylinder motorcycle Farrrrrrk, and thats not yet loaded with saddle bags and the like. I looked closely at the one at the bike show and to me it just looked cheap. The forks look like tooth picks and with all that weight have to flex real bad.

    I like the look of the Tenere it’s just in the flesh it doesn’t look like it would last long.

    For me i’d go the BMW F800GS. I know it’s cost more but if this is going to be a long term investment it will be worth it. 800cc parallel twin and a claimed 207kg full a fuel, vrooooom.

    Ps, I bet the pillion seat is more comfy too, gotta look at the selling points for the little woman. ;)

    Mick I think I saw you out riding last week. Where you the bloke on the old IT175 wearing Blundstone boots, King gees, flano shirt and a peekless helmet? :laugh: :P

    In all seriousness I had a close call on the Hillend/Orange ride on day 2 when it pissed down. In the pine forest I pulled off my goggles to get better vision and got about 100m before a branch speered into the bridge of my nose between my eyes. An inch either way would have been disaster. Needless to say I pulled up and dug into my bag for the wet weather safety glasses.

    As for goggles I use Scott because they have the coolest name on the market. :)

    Yes the crash did give my arm a workout. I have pulled up a little tight and sore today. Before yeserdays ride I was up to about 95% movement in my elbow. I recon im back to 85% today.

    As for the cutting down trees Tiny did mention he’s the one riding the chainsaw.

    The Rowan, mate not sure if your in Penrith or how long it been since you been out this way but some of the places you mentioned are now off limits. The drop zone has sighs everwhere say “NO TRAILBIKE”. Bikes still go in there but its pretty boring anyway.

    Jacksons lane was closed down by the Lakes project about 5 years ago now and the fire trail opposite on the other side of the river is locked up tight and big fines apply.

    Yarrumundi has been taken over by National Parks who have done regeneration work in there. Again no bike and big fines.

    Best place to go is over the mountains to the Clarence and work ride out from there. Plenty of singles and fireroad heading out from miles. Tiny and me just go home from a 240km ride up there today out to Capperty, Sunny Corner and the like.

    pity I got my kids tomorrow or I’d b with ya’s, my arm is also ready for a trial run. I was planning on maybe doing a capertee run next sunday to test the arm.

    Does having the cables underneath affect them in any way? They were originaly on top.

    No mine run fine underneath. I think the throttle housing is less vulnerable to crash damage that way too.

    Jak I also got high bars on mine. Have a look at your throttle. On mine it is positioned on the bars so the cable comes out the bottom and under the brake lever mount.

    I have noticed other DRZ’s with the cables up top running over the top of the brake mount. If yours is like this you may find a couple cm if you turn it with the cables down bottom.

    Hey Katgirl, I was down Batemens Bay in early January and went driving though the Mogo State Forest. I saw signs for for this riding academy in the forest. Looks like great riding country, I saw plenty of good looking single track in there.

    I will be trying to get down there with my bike myself soon.
