I’m such a post whore, not ment to post that 3 times,
R&D Husky at Emu Plains is the latest to be hit but this time the grubs didn’t get away. Last night the group rammed the rear door and removed 7 bikes. This set off the alarm and luckily the owners of the shop were there within minutes and saw the vehicles leaving the driveway and alerted police. The police got in a pursuit with the vehicle, finally stopping it over near Fairfield.
All bikes recovered though one fell off the trailer during the pursuit. Hopefully this will lead police to Sutto’s bike’s and any others that have been stolen.
I think the manual for the DRZ400E is right, it is not recommended for pillions as it has no pillion pegs. Remember the DRZ400S and DRZ400SM are basically the same as the DRZ400E and they both come standard with pillion pegs so I can’t see it an issue.

On the issue of pillion pegs Kylie if you look at the bike about you can see it’s got em. The DRZ400S and SM both come standard with pillion pegs but have brackets on the rear subframe for them to bolt to. If ya could find a set of the pegs and ya know someone who is handy welding aluminium shoundn’t be to hard to fit a set.
Have ya looked at the DRZ forum on TT, http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25, guys on here are a bit of SM action, or is it S&M,

Ya can get a nitro conversion kit for them.
I found on online store in oz if anybody else interested, http://www.ultrahobbies.com.au/store/product.php?productid=17546&cat=0&page=1. I generally source all my RC gear direct from Japan or Hongkong as it’s much cheaper so i’ll be searching online stores to find a better deal.
Welcome to the fold Kylie. Sound’s like a fun project, a DRZ motard will be a much better caffe racer than the scorpio. I am surprised to see a non Yamaha in the D’s fleet though.
I’ve been tempted to get a set of motard wheels for my DRZ but simple don’t trust myself on the road.
Here’s a web sight I got my led tail light from. They do a bit of bling stuff for DRZ400SM’s. http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com/index.shtml
Here’s a little inspiration
I always have a laugh to myself when people advertise our ex-work vehicle for sale and state things like “ex-chaser” as if it is a good thing or a selling point.
At $150 it’s now getting a bit to rich to ride a state forest you can normally ride for free. I think Tiny and myself are planning a bit of an exploratory ride up there a couple weeks after the rally.
I don’t ride much at night anyway. The globe in the RMX light is 55w, the original DRZ high beam was 60w. The high beam wire is twice as thick as the as the low beam wire. The stator would have to be able to handle more than 60w. As well as the 60w headlight it would need to run rear tail light/stop light/numberplate light which when all activate are another 35w (which has all been replaced with much lower current LED’s) and blinkers another 10W when activated which have also been removed.
All to confusing for me, maybe I’ll just stick to daylight riding and remove the globe from the light altogether saving another couple of grams in weight,
Now I want some of the funky graphics like on the headlight for the rest of the bike.
I will try and make it for the Sunday, i’m working Saturday night but should finish at 4am giving me plenty af time to get there

$126 in the shops!

Ollie the light itself is a glass lense with a proper old style steel backing not one of the modern plastic units. It then mounts to a steel pivot with the adjuster before it comes into contact with the plastic shroud. I have a couple old globes here, maybe give it a go and see how hot it all gets. Not that I ever ride at night anyway,

I wonder if it works as well at night?
The original ones worked quite well, just heavy.Haven’t tied it at night yet. It takes single filament driving light style globes and has a 55w at the moment. Maybe I’ll try a 100w globe in there. I have it wired into the highbeam circuit so I can now turn the light off by switching to lowbeam
Ever wonder why so many of them little Chinese kids bikes are Yamaha Peewee 50 and 80 copies. Make ya think them Chinese factories were already tooled up to produce Yamaha’s.
