You all assume this bike has been crashed. I think you’ll find KTM’s just rattle themselves to pieces like this on any decent ride.
Welome aboard Mutley, good to have another DRZ rider amongst us.
What part of the world are you from?xy-transit wrote:
Quote:i do now, i’ll keep that in mind if i ever do another holden ute. do you know of any prices?the owner knew of a guy that had bought all the N.O.S. side panels but by the time he pulled his finger out and got me the number the guy had sold the last L/H one 2 months before hand. so you snooze you loose, i guess.
+ the owner wanted a street machine on a 120Y budget, not a rally budget either menace.
Can’t help on price for quarter been out of the trade for awhile now, 20 years was enough for me.
By the way here is my work environment tonight. This is how I get around internet resrictions at work.

SO Thanks to all of you who pay taxes!
Mate you know they make after market quarter panels for those things, don’t fit to bad either.
I had the forks on the DRZ done by Teknik, best money you’ll ever spend on ya bike. Rear shock will be done on the DRZ soon.
This is the second bike i’ve had done by them, they previously transformed my XR.

Maybe your overpriced orange thoroughbred race bike is to much for a trailriding pommy git.
KTM riders obviously have a fetish for being smacked in the a*se.

Quote:Hey MickI work in the bicycle industry and working out which components to put on which bikes is my job. Promise me that at the very least you will put a V-brake on the front of that thing and a compatible fork even if it is a rigid one. Judging by the photo the steerer tube on that bike would be 1″ which is old school so finding a suspension fork would be difficult.
At least with a V-brake you can get enough leverage to stop that bad boy because the side-pull brake that is on it is ineffective under pedal power let alone motorised.
Are you sure you did not get that from deceased estate?
STM
Thats the scary thing with these, they seem to bolt these motors to the biggest heap of shit they can drag of the garbage heap. On a half decent bike they might be ok.
Seem a woman a couple of months back who had come off one after the rear wheel collapsed and she hit the tarmac face first, no helmut. Made an ugly woman even uglier,

Motorised foot scooters (with or without a seat) – electric/petrol engine
Mini-bikes
Motorised human transporters such as the WheelMan, or SEGWAY
Motorised skateboards – electric/petrol engine
ExemptionsMotor assisted pedal cycles with electric or petrol engines are exempt from registration, provided the maximum engine output power does not exceed 200 watts. Riders must follow the same road rules as for pedal cycles without motors, including wearing a helmet.

The key word with these things Mick is “motor assisted”. I can tell you know they easily do over 60kph up hill without peddling. Only takes a cop to follow and observe you riding without peddling to show it’s powered by the motor alone.
Yes there are alot of these and most cops won’t bother but I have seen people go for unregister, uninsured, unlicenced and no helmut (as when considered a motor vehicle pushy helmut don’t cut it)on one of these bikes. Funny thing is suspended and disqualified drivers are buying them for transport, they go for drive while suspended/disqualified.
Legislation was recently changed with a successful prosecution at court setting a precedence.
Moral to the story is Mick, when riding this thing, keep those legs pumping no matter how fast ya going,

I was up in the National Park on Friday on my orange bike. I could show ya some good single track through there. May get in a bit of trouble on motor bike though, think it about a $11000 fine.
