Mate your bang on the weight for the standard rear spring, 82kg.
Your calculations for race sag are out. I also had this wrong on my DRZ. Most bikes run a sag of 100mm or so. I just had my suspension done by Tekhnik motorsports and was advised the race sag for the DRZ should be around 85mm, with 20-30mm static sag.
This will make the bike turn much better.

Mate keep winding that collar, I had to wind mine heaps to get it right but now I got 85mm race sag and 20mm static and I weight 90kg, the spring is only just heavy enough for me but should be fine for you.

Here’s a link to the Teknik setup guide.

Most of these Kms were racked up on the road as it was also my dailt commuter, but it still had as much poke as the new XR when I sold it. Was a little rattly but thats to be expected.

Impressive that a hard core race bike is the most reliable bike you’ve owned! It would help that it is a 2 stroke I guess. The most reliable bike I ever owned was a 1992 DR250. I’m sure it is still going! I regret selling it really, it would be a good spare bike.

The first brand new bike I ever bought was a 1990 DR250 (same as 92). I rode this thing every where as it was my only transport for about 4 years. I put 75,000kms on that little motor with 5000kms oil changes. The only thing it ever had replaced was a clutch at about 50,000 and a stator just before I sold it.

I sold it to a mate who had it for another 2 years problem free.

This bike is probably the reason I decided to get another Suzuki.

I even found a pic of the old girl the day it was replaced with the shinny new XR.

    Seems AWFULLY dodgy to me!

    G’day Dozer, what a great username! Are you a D7 or a D9? Maybe a D4?

    (Moto will now ask “What’s a D4?”)

Just checked that one on ebay. The one I seen was in Bathurst. I like his idea of a street registered CR500 supermoto though, :woohoo:. Scare the shit out of the crotch rocket riders .

Oh yeah, welcome again Dozer. :)

Welcome to OBT champ :) You certainly have a selection of feisty bikes to play with

Some HP amoung that lot. A few years back I fancied myself as a CR500 pilot and nearly bought one when Honda made a few ADR compliant models. Common sense pevailed. Did see an ADR model on ebay just recently though, hmmm. :)

I got a new pair of Fox (full fingered) mountain bike gloves for christy. Most comfy gloves ive ever had. They lack protection on the back of knuckles but thats what barkbusteres ars for.

Not sure how much as mate gave them to me and he owns bike store.

Luv ya work, it’s just frustrating when im stuck at home with other crap that needs doing :( .

Welcome aboard Dozer. There plenty of use guys close enough to you to get together for some rides. There’s some good forests down your way that we should orginise a ride or two in. :)

in reply to: XR600 Renovate or detonate?? #125014

I think its the low tech nature and simplicity of XR’s that is the appeal. No radiator for a start has it’s advantages, I’m sure thats something you would understand Wickd. ;)

Poker run, havn’t seen one of them for years. From what I remember the way they work is ya get a poker card for every lap ya complete of a set course. Guy with the best pcker hand at the end is the winner.

in reply to: More holidays means more riding – right #124810
