Not trying to bag any bikes out, I understand high perfomance race bikes are going to cost more to maintain. It’s just those figures blow my mind. If I had to spend that to keep a bike going I wouldn’t be riding.

At $15 a litre, thats over $30,000 or $1 per km just in oil. Yeah I can see how KTM’s are cost effective. Makes me feel like a complete tight arse. The poor DRZ is expected to do many more km’s on a litre of oil. My calculations may be wrong, i’m no accountant and not known for my mathimatics but that seems excesive.

33,104.38 km, 816 hrs 26 min, 2186.44 litres used. That equates to about a litre of oil every 15km. You must do lots of short ride or carry heaps of oil around. I used to have a hyundia excel with 400,000km that didn’t even use that much oil.

Yeah, to go over the top, you could do your sand run from Noosa, hop the ferry over the river then run the beach to Rainbow/Inskip, onto the next ferry and hit Fraser at Hook point..( the Bottom end), then the long run upto the top point. That would be the run for the brissy end of QLD. Take a long weekend because the run upto Rainbow is full of other spots to check out to.

This is the kind of run im thinking of with maybe an overnight campout on the island.

What would be the best time of year to do such a ride? Thinking of still being warm enough for a swim but trying to avoid the peak tourist seasons.

Fitted one of these to the DRZ today. does’nt fit as nice as the standard filter. needed to be stretched out over the filter cage. Seamed to have smaller side walls than the standard one resulting in a smaller filter area. Seems to seal against the base ok but once again the surface area where it seals is smaller than standard. I was going to get a couple of these for Hillend ride but not so sure know.

Better get me on that list. woo hoo!

Throw my name on that list dates pending. Most of January no good for me. If ya looking for someone to throw up a date 31 Jan/1 Feb or 21/22 Feb both good weekends for me. Would need to confirm soon so I could lock in dates with the rosters bitch.

in reply to: Just me and the DRZee #114942

Yeah you guys would have covered most of this area on the way to Orange. There are so many more trails out there to explore but some of them I didn’t want to tackle aloan. Found some new stuff back in the pine forest though. How good is the dirt under pine trees.

Hope I can swing a few more weekend rides in the new year.
