Hey STM whats the deal with the BBQ Saturday night?

It will kick off at around 6.30 Saturday night. I will do salads and bring sauce, salt, pepper etc. The campers will have plates etc and the cabins are equipped. As for fridges there are communal ones in the camp grounds and the guys in the cabins can help out if need be. Add the families and all the Bulls and some tag alongs and we will have the best part of 50 people so it should make for a good cook up.

If you get a chance just check that your details are corret here. If you have family or any extras joining for dinner on Friday night let me know as I need numbers by the end of next week. The venue has changed for dinner on Friday. It is now at a pub that has a kid freindly bistro so if you arrive late or just want to drink your dinner you can still meet us up. I have a shuttle bus doing laps of the resort so transport is sorted. The Chinese restaurant heard a rumour that 30 big blokes were coming to the buffet and they have gone on holiday for a week

Yeah I have A 570 and I couldnt come up with a bad thing to say about it.Its by far the best bike I have ever riden.
As far as handling is concerned it what your used to and if thats a Jap bike then a Euro bike might not be for you.
Ive had my bikes suspension done both back and front to suit the kind of riding I do which wont suit someone else.
Ive had no problems with it at all, it has always started and got me places my other bikes would have had trouble with. The REKLUS cluth helps alot.

As for the Fro testing a 390 and not being as fast as a DRZ 250 what a load of B*&^S#$T who sponsers the show, So why would they say a berg is better or faster, it would only insult there sponsers.

    Cheers

    Hey Gotchya

We know how much you love your Berg. You are the only guy in the Southern Hemisphere who has a weather cover for his dirt bike
I read Turnstyle’s thread and he says he was on a KTM so he is used to Euro bikes. His question is if the 09 model have EFI issues. Does anyone have info on that?
I too have seen the MXTV episode with the 390 and it did land on the same second as the 250 farm bike’s enduro loop. No doubt it is on Youtube. No mention of the conditions but it did happen.

    Cheers

So far I have laid out the itinerary up the point where Saturday afternoon all 35 of us roost up the beach at 5.30pm on low tide after some nibbles and home brew :woohoo: . From there it is back to the resort to have a shower before the BBQ. The resort has some great facilities and they have a camp cook house next to a lagoon that will be the perfect spot for a big BBQ. The beach is not far away and the lagoons are swimmable so we have all the makings of a good night B) . It is also over by the unpowered tent sites so most the punters will have already moved on once Bol, Pep and Krusty make their presence felt :P .
If worse comes to worse I have a shuttle bus on standby for the pub. :silly:
Just make sure you pack some food to BBQ. I am not talking anything fancy but a few snags, an onion and a loaf of bread should do the job.

Sunday there will be a three hour ride heading about at 9am. Most of you have the three nights for two deal so you can go back and get showered up before you have to leave. It also means you don’t have to pack in the morning before you head out. Brisbane is 4 hours away and Sydney is 6 so there is no excuse for not being on the Sunday ride.
If you are staying Sunday night I will also lead an afternoon ride.

Thanks to everyone for letting me know your movements as it is making the planning a lot easier. Apparently I have spent more time and effort planning this ride than I did for my wedding but my wife has been known to be wrong before. ;)

    Cheers

I saw a 690 put through it’s paces on the Sofala ride and it was a very impressive piece of work.

Like most of the new mid size 4wd the rear suspension is very soft for a good ride but they hit the bump stops at any more than 700 kg , I had to fit air bags on my hilux to sort it. Also the clutches are useless I’m on my third in 130000km and a mate with a Navara is on his second in 80000. Their are heavy duty clutches avalible but they won’t fit them under warrenty.
I reckon they are all very similar now and apart from resale the hilux isn’t leaps ahead of all the others like it used to be, on price and hindsight I’d go the Navara.

A late model secondhand Hilux will be a lot easier to sell than a late model secondhand Navara.
I would be test driving a new Hilux as well.

    Gotowo

My budget is 30k so my choice is new Navara or second hand Hilux.
