    Hey Bollocks,
There is actually another Caravan park next door (100 meters away) that still has budget cabins available if worse comes to worse. I think it is called the Lorikeet holiday park. They aren’t that far apart,Check it out on Google maps
Darlington beach park only has the “top end” cabins left which will cost you your first born and then some.

The Mayor is right on both points. Give the Lorikeet a call. It is right next door.

So that everyone can plan their trip, here are ride times for Friday and Saturday.
Friday we will head out at 3pm for a 2 hr loop.
Saturday morning starts with a rider brief at 8am. Both of these rides start from the visitors parking lot of the Darlington Beach Resort.
    The link is here http://www.darlingtonbeach.com.au/holiday-park-map
The parking lot is outside the park gates so if you are not staying there it is no problem to park and unload.
If it is not too much trouble on the Saturday morning can you wheel your bike out of the park gates before you warm it up. If your cabin is way down the back then it is a bit of a hike but if possible the less bikes we have warming up in the grounds before 8am the better the chance of us getting back in again B)
I will have a ute waiting in the car park to load fuel etc onto which will meet us at lunch. Location of lunch is only about a km from the resort so if you do need to go back for some reason you can but your fuel will be shuttled to lunch so you can relax and enjoy your $10 special :woohoo: Distance for Saturday is a tad over 100ks and will take us all about 7 hours so if you need a lunch time top up then mark a can of fuel and bring it to the rider brief. Pair up where possible.
For those not riding on Friday but joining us for dinner a shuttle bus will pick us up from the parking lot at 7pm.
As mentioned earlier in the thread the ride on Saturday consists of two loops that Nickj and myself will lead. I asked for anyone who needs to be paired up to let me know as the groups will be formed randomly on the morning. So far I have two Bulls who are sharing tools so I take it everyone else is happy to leave it to chance.
Regardless of the group you end up in you will get to ride every trail and we all meet for lunch. At the completion of the afternoon loops both groups will meet at a picnic ground on a beach for snacks and a home brew sampling session. From their all 30 of us will ride 6km of flat fast sand back to your cabins.
If you have a beverage that you would prefer for the afternoon picnic then you can leave that in an esky at the rider brief and that wil be shuttled to the beach.
Any questions just PM the dancing hippo and he will pass it on to me.

    Let the countdown continue!!

I think it is fairly safe to say it won’t be dusty.
Average rainfall on the Coffs Coast is massive by Australian standards and the bush is well evolved to deal with it.
As long as we don’t get so much that the creeks are in flood we will be fine.

I went out to do some trail work today and it was pissing rain and windy and it was still good riding. Add 29 other Bulls and it will be good fun either way.
Pack the safety glasses in case, mount some new rubber and count the days.

I went out in the pissing rain and sawed through a log that needed clearing before this month ride.

in reply to: Buying Gear from OS, right thing to do? #190210

The LBS (local bike shop) will always be there to sell bikes and to service them. Their chunk of the P&A (parts and accessories) market will shrink as the www’s open the broader market. And that is what it is, a broader market. If I buy a part from Sydney my LBS has lost the sale the same as if I had bought from OS.
The investment for the LBS to carry a full range of P&A is becoming too great. There are to many products so they either stock bits and pieces or they go full on but they just raise their margin to do this as they will always have slow lines that need to be sold at discount. It is splicing the industry into two segments. The bike, service shop and the P&A store. A brick and mortar shop will retain the bike sales/ service and the P&A business will increasingly become the realm of the warehouse style online store. As the world shrinks under the grip of the internet where this warehouse is located starts to become irrelavent.
Consumers have choice and if you are a competent bike mechanic you have even more but at the end of the day we all need a relationship with a LBS. The good retailers will find their place in the new market and the bad ones will disappear.

Dare I say pressure, the big XR breathing down his neck  :P  :P  Pressure affects us all different 😆 Him having to try to hold out the fire breathing XR, up hold KTM’s as such, lord kato left him alone wobbling :S

    TB

He may have been worried that the XRs jake brake would fail on the down hills and you wouldn’t be able to change down 16 gears quick enough to pull to the big bitch up for a corner and run clean over one of Lord Katos deciples.

I can report first hand that it is much safer in front of TB than it is behind. That XR throws boulders!
