As a guide on the Sofala ride 38 riders did 420km which is 15960km. That gets you from Australia to Austria although that is the same place if you ask an American :P

Plan your rides troops. 5 weeks to go!

T/B is indeed correct about torque values on front sprocket size.

We did the same with the kids on BMX bikes, long crankarms as practical for little legs, and as small a front sprocket and compensate with the rear to retain the optimal gearing… a very switched on bloke showed me this years ago.

But as also stated small front sprockets wear chains faster.

Back in the day BMX bikes ran 44/16 but today the standard is 25/9. Similar ratio but in keeping with what Mr Blue was trying to achieve back in the day.

I am going to put the dates of July 3/4 as the definates for this. That means that you have to log your k’s over the two days and if you don’t have a speedo then either ride with someone that does or give your best guess. It is 16900k’s from Wauchope to London so if 75 Old Bulls all pitched in 225k’s over the weekend we would get there.

I will post a few reminders as we get closer to the date and you can PM me the number you do. Remember you can also guess how many K’s you think OBT can cover in two days and the nearest guess will win a prize.

    STM

Do i need to PM you or can i just tell you that i will be doing 0 k’s :(

    Consider it logged mate

Look forward to having a catch up with you at Wauchope and I hope that your recovery is going ok.
