I am going to put the dates of July 3/4 as the definates for this. That means that you have to log your k’s over the two days and if you don’t have a speedo then either ride with someone that does or give your best guess. It is 16900k’s from Wauchope to London so if 75 Old Bulls all pitched in 225k’s over the weekend we would get there.
I will post a few reminders as we get closer to the date and you can PM me the number you do. Remember you can also guess how many K’s you think OBT can cover in two days and the nearest guess will win a prize.

How long is a piece of string Boony. Whatever suits you, your bike and your terrain is the answer. Only you know that.
I am keen to hear what you decide on.

Goes to show how gearing is dependant on where you ride. That to me is desert racer spec. I am truckin’ 13/50 on a 250 4T.STM
Between the sandy twin track and the greasy sections there was some sweet, sweet loam. These sections of trail were similar in that they were overgrown fire trail with one main line but super grippy.
The footage below should give you a good feel for it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwXNo6sixp8Dust was nonexistent but the occasional bog hole kept things interesting. You would round a corner hot on the heels of the rider in front of you only to see a massive puddle that was about to leap from the ground and engulf you. We all wore our share but the trails were so much fun that you did not care how wet you got, plus it is the North Coast of NSW so it was steamy and a bit of cool water is never a problem. We stopped to open one last gate and Nickj and Nigel decided we had time to add one extra section that they had not planned to do. It was a long downhill with a gentle slope that just allowed you to add some throttle to maintain momentum but did not require any real drive. By now we were all in the flow and the next 20 minutes just disappeared beneath my tyres as I floated over some amazing trails. The surface, conditions and crew were all perfect and made for a very fitting end to a very special morning.
Cheers Nickj for a great ride and congrats on your property. It is incredible and a credit to you.Ride on!

Your name came up more than once today mate. You and the Kwaka would have cut loose. Once you are on the mend we are talking about a two day ride between me place and Nickj’s.
Rest up buddy

Hey TB
That was Nigel that ate it. He is fine. I think he joined up today. I barely saw Nickj, he was on it!

The moisture in the ground was keeping the sand together and what would normally be fairly loose trails were now a lot faster. :woohoo: A lot of sections were old disused fire trial which had grown back into wide singles. It meant you could move outside the rider in front of you to get good visibility and then tuck back in as it tightened up.
This footage gives you a feel for the sandy twin.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u36xfFbRHMWe covered a lot of ground on this terrain and the four of us were staying tight. By now Nige was starting to get his Mojo back and he was on the gas. I was super keen to ride with Mark as we are longtime friends and have done a lot of cool stuff together but we have never ridden dirt bikes together. He works for Westpac rescue choppers and only recently moved back from Cairns. He was meant to ride at my backyard bash last week but he stripped a bolt on a oil change the night before. We more than made up for it today and I look forward to plenty more Nth Coast goodness with him. Expect an intro on OBT soon. He is a top bloke.
On a rest break we heard some other riders coming up behind us and had a chat with a couple of Ballina boys. This stretch of bush is massive and in one way or another pretty well runs from Coffs to the Border Ranges. If you combined the trail knowledge of the local riders you could put together an epic through here.My baby sitting window expired at midday so we kept the breaks short. i had gotten up at 5.30am to make it happen and even though it was only 10am it felt much later. Nickj checked his watch, consulted the boys on what we had time for, and we were off again.
To be continued

So you survive a day riding at full tilt in unfamilar terrain at my place and hurt yourself gardening
All the best on a speedy recovery mate. Keep us up to date with your progress.
