    Great report and video stm.

That’s a nice smoooooth fast flowing single track. Shits all over the rock gardens we took you on here. Next time we’ll take on some not so rocky stuff.

You (and TB) did a great job route finding for the Sofala ride. It is good for my riding to mix it up and add some variety. I would have been dissapointed to have travelled so far to ride the same stuff that I ride at home.

In saying that would I swap my loam for all those rocks, ah…….. NO

Can’t wait to get you on my home turf Mal.

Nice report and vid Scottie, glad to see the camera going well. Watching the vid brought back the memories, sweet loam.

My two favorite bits are the run down to that big fallen tree towards the little bridge and the tighter twisty section following the main road back to the Pacific highway. Although the windrow section just after the loose downhill is pretty fun too, oh and log hop section shouldn’t be left out either……

Shame you couldn’t have had a go at the widowmaker. Was the 2 stage hill before the widowmaker the one me and Champo got king of the hill on with drop off to the left?

Thats the one mate. Nobody attempted your line B) Everyone had one look at the drop to the left and stayed way right!

    Hey Spidy

Real sorry to hear about that mate but by the sounds of it you got off lucky.
All the best for a speedy recovery and have fun on the cans at Kenda.

Are you sure it was not a booby trap set to keep the VTB in town

The plan was to be on our bikes by 8.30 so the boys planned to arrive around 8. The anticipation must have been too much as everyone arrived early so we were underway by 8.15. :)
Corey8 had driven up with Nate_80 and Nickj had made the run down from Yamba. T-Driver rounded out the OBT presence as he lives in Coffs these days.
All up it was the five of us and as I had ridden with everyone before, except Nathan who is Corey8’s riding buddy so I knew he would hold his own, I knew we would cover a lot of ground.
Out of my garage door it is about 300 metre and you are straight into it. We ducked under an aqua duck to cross under the pacific highway and entered the forest.
With five riders we ran cornerman becomes sweep to keep the ride flowing and it worked perfectly all day. The trail conditions were perfect so there was no dust so riding as a tight group was easy to do. After a short fire road section we were into the singletrack and at our first rest stop it was obvious that the group was loving it. :woohoo: I was super keen to show Corey8 a good time as he got ripped off last time as he and Fester had joined us at lunch and I got strangled about an hour later so we had to head back. This time he was there from the start and no such misfortune with vines. B)
Corey8 has a reputation for pedaling that KLX450R along at a good rate and he did not disappoint. I tend to ride fairly cautiously in terrain that is new to me as I have not been riding that long and I have a lot of responsibility but on my own trails I tend to let it run a bit more. We entered one section of singletrack that Moto has called his favourite and I opened my little 250F up. :woohoo: The trail defines what a single should be and you can basically go as fast as you dare. One section it tightens up and makes a switchback and sure enough Corey8 was right there. This spurred me on more and the next section I hammered as hard as I could and got a little gap on him but it was his first run through this trail and I can close my eyes and mind ride it so it was not really a fair match up.
At the end of this section it was hoots and hollers and high fives and everyone was frothing. Nathan had proved his ability and T-Driver is the classic trail rider. Capable, confident and super consistent. You know that he and his trusty WR450 will be there each time you stop and today was no different.
Nickj only made the transition to dirt in the last year and the boys were certainly shocked to hear this. He rides way above what you would expect from such limited experience and he will get very good in a very short time. The one thing that he has not done much of is hill climbing and that was our next challenge. I knew Corey8 can climb so we headed off towards a nasty two stage pitch. It was going to be a test and my first attempt at the first pitch did not go to plan. I ended up standing with just the front of my boots on a two foot ledge with my bike perfectly balanced on its back wheel. I could have stayed in that position for a while as the weight was perfectly balanced on the back wheel but the step back was going to get messy. I let go of one grip and jumped the opposite way and the bike swung under me without hitting the deck. Nice save.
Corey8 was next and he nailed it first go. I got up second go and then after multiple attempts there was just one exhausted solider standing at the bottom and looking like he and the bike may overheat at any minute. ;)
Cory8 was good enough to offer to ride Nickj DRZ up and got it first go. Bastard!
Corey8 had ridden the first half of the secongd opitch whilst we waited for the crew below and came back to report that it was looking a lot tougher than the first pitch which by now put the fear into all of us. He made it second go. I rode the most out of control line possible and got it second go. Nathan made a good run up on round two and after a little assistance we got Nickj up. Right in the steepest pitch T-Drivers front wheel lofted but he had no choice but to gas it if he wanted to make it up the last ledge. He made the brave decision to do that and mono’d his way to the top. Great commitment.
We were now past our first real obstacle and on our way to the fabled Widow Maker. Our effort were foiled by the rally race taking place so it meant we had to ride back down the two pitches we had just struggled up. No real big deal as this led us to some more great singles.

I had to be home by midday to get ready for a wedding and we arrived at 11.50 grinning and all stoked. We had an awesome ride and thanks to OBT a bunch of guys who would otherwise remain strangers got to enjoy a great mornings riding and a few good laughs.
Thanks to everyone for making the effort and I look forward to hosting you all again in the future.

    Ride On!

    Today was epic!!!

It would have been me going for a ride on my own but thanks to OBT we had 5 memebers running at full tilt. No sweep but cornerman ran sweep and it ran clean.

Nice work Nickj, Tdriver, Corey8, Nathan08. It was as good as it gets.

Boony you have to post some of those shots of your established singletrack for Nickj. You have some beauties that you used for the Nundle ride post last year.
That way when he decides he wants to ride them I can hitch a lift B)
