Yeah, thanks STM … I did have a few “sh*t I’m out here all alone” moments! And I will be riding solo a bit I reckon.
Any recommendations?

A couple of questions for the tech savvy (I don’t have the patience to be tech savvy)
I have 1080 and 720 version …………720 will give me a longer recording time yes?
I got 40 min out of a 4gb c ard on 1080
What life should i expect out of a battery so as i can match card to battery life
I can’t seem to plug my goggles straight into Tv , thinking this may be because it was 1080 not 720??
What software are people using to edit movies on PC , is it free
What software are people using on ipads??? Haven’t got it or used it yet ??
I’m not after a flash program just one to cut out all of the dead boring footage , wouldn’t mind trying to do the flash edits like some people on here but as i said patience, time and computer skills
Cheers
Any input would be appreciated :woohoo:
Hi Bob
Have a read through here and see if there are some answers for you.A http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php/forum?view=topic&catid=40&id=119399 n
Anything else just ask the question and I will do my best to help you out.STM
YouTube does compress things but I let your vids load at 720 and they look pretty good. If you want less compression you could always try Vimeo instead of YouTube.

turnstyle wrote:Nice one Scotty but a little fairy told me that NickyJ’s bike is faster .
HahaThe cheapest and surest way to get Nickjs bike to go faster is to let me ride it
It will be epic if you can make Coffs this year mate. I have a bed for you on reserve. Nick can sleep in the cubby houseSTM
Trailboss wrote:moto wrote:Am I seeing this right. You have to rest your bike on a pillow because you don’t want the bashie to touch the lift stand? thats sad Scott   nearly as sad as Moto seeing that
Sad sad sad
What is doing there Scott really?
TB
It’s a pillow to rest it’s weary head.
Actually it’s an old nappy as my stand has a smooth top and when it gets lube etc on it the bike slips around too easily and is dangerous for my boys who love touching it.STM
Krusty wrote:Hey Scotty what settings do you use to export out of iMovie?Cheers…
I am just clicking share and uploading to YouTube @ 1080 for anything I post here. For anything I archive I save in MP4 using H.264 codec. It seems to be read by almost all devices and does not compress to the point of degrading the shot.

I was going to get some frame guards but where my leather boot had rubbed the alloy frame it had polished it to a mirror finish. It looked so good I took to the frame with four grades of super fine sand paper and some alloy

Great job on the hill guys, looks relentless and steep. :woohoo:
I feel an OBT video edit compition coming on.

“get back mutha f#$ker yo dono me like that!”
That’s in my head all night now.
Hey Mal,
I was thinking for the Coffs ride we could have an outdoor cinema on the Saturday night this year. Everyone can send their edits and we cut it to one file and run it on a projector.
We could have our own Tropfest!STM
Good job mate!
I loved the edit and MC Chronic loved that Gangsta shit :laugh:STM
I would like to join you boys but I am Daddy daycare that weekend and then the following weekend I am off to Noosa.
Enjoy it!!

Have you got the Mac fully RAM’d up?
Just running two of the four slots and it is running well.

Krusty wrote:The gopro and ego do nothing other than record the video in a specific way and has nothing to do with the editing process.. iMovie is a great little app and a no brainer to learn as Nick has discovered. The output of the editing process will only be as good as the input quality of the video.. STM has shown you can do some pretty cool stuff using the basic editing tools… Good camera with good recording will produce good edited outcomes imo… It is just time consuming…I recorded 4 decent length videos at Clarence this past weekend with my LI-Ego and I was impressed.. I recorded 720p @ 60 frames per second… There appears to be be a slight shake in some footage but I’m not sure if it is the Camera or the odd movement of me head while riding… I just bought a bunch of mounts and I’ll be setting up various points on the bike to experiment with…
I recorded a full 14 minute blat through some of the pine singles and the file size raw came in around 1.35 gig.. I think for an average using 720p @ 60 frames per second about 500 meg per 5 minutes.
I had no issues finding the action connect app in the app store not sure why you guys seem to have trouble.. It is a nice little app to pre setup the camera view but unless you have the phone mounted on your bars it is a bit a pain in the a$$ to use imo….
Well said Krusty.
Shooting at 60FPS is the go for slow motion stuff but just be aware that most editing programs will drop every second frame on import so that it defaults back to 30. That means you will have used more card space and more battery for no gain. If you want to keep the footage in 60 make sure you change your import settings.
I suspect any shaking your seeing is from your body movement or from a computer that cannot keep up with such big files. To check that, plug the camera or card directly into a digital TV and see if it is smooth there. Also make sure there is no play in your mounts, it only take a little to show up on your footage. The last cause could be a card that is not class 8 or higher.STM

STMYou obviously don’t own a decent one
I’ve had 2 good ones over the years and i wouldn’t even let you stand in front of either of them
They are both Broken from over use and too tight to buy another newbie
My Gerni must be shit, unlike your two mine still works
Stay angry Bob!STM
Slick edit Mal and epic trails.
I agree with Moto. I have driven 20 hour round trips three years in a row to ride around pine trees and you have this insteadSTM
