On a recent ride I lost my GoPro in the bush. Normally whenever I feel it hit something I reach up to check but on this occasion I had not hit any branches but it was gone. On close inspection the mount had cracked and released the camera. As hard as Corey, Nick and myself tried to find it, it was gone.
New GoPro arrived this week and I have made a tether for it so this cannot happen again.
My helmet (Fox V2) has front ports that a small cable tie can fit through perfectly. I used this as the base anchor point and then tied up some strong cord the way you do to hold your leg rope to your board.
I looped the camera through that and secured the other end to the hinge pin on the back of the GoPro housing.
I also mounted the optional rubber bracket plug (white insert) so it can not release accidentally. To remove the camera I have just enough slack so that I cant feed the camera back through the loop in the leash when I want to remove it and all I am left with is the standard mount and a small cable tie through he vent.
Hopefully saves some one else from an unnecessarily expensive trail ride.

Welcome to the site Fordy.
Smart choice on both the bike and the location
I am on the north side of Coffs and get out most weekends so keep an eye out for a ride day.STM
LC4steve wrote:Thanks Mr KingGrades 4-5 sound a bit wild for me. If there wasn’t too many sections like that, or if someone was keen to help me out a bit I’d tag along. Otherwise I think I might have to try an easier one first to get feel for the grading system.
SteveDo an intro thread Steve and let us know where you are from and where you ride and I am sure you will find plenty of opportunities to get out there and hone your skills.

Hi Steve and welcome to the site.
Nobody is nobody around here.
I have pasted a link to the ride grading info and if Mike goes ahead with the ride he will let us know the sort of grade to expect.

From my experience the base level of Mikes terrain is a grade 3 and then there are some challenges from there. Plenty of grade 4 hills to climb and descend and no doubt a 5 thrown in somewhere that Mike will ride in second gear on the pegs while we grovel around. :pinch:Enjoy the site.

I would drive that far to have a beer with you mate so if it means a weekend on the bike then you can count me in.

I got mine from Adventure Moto as well Nato.
Call Steve and tell him you are OBT.STM
As you know mate I do my fair share of solo riding and I will not leave home without mine. It is an incredible bit of kit that will make the difference if things go bad.

Nice one Bol!
That was a great ride and a great cause.
The efforts you have made running the auctions is massive and without you we would have raised a lot less money on all our major rides.
Big pat on the back for you mate.STM
